WORLD HEPATITIS DAY | 28 JULY 2026

Imagine a mother who feels healthy, a father working hard every day, or a young person chasing their dreams, yet all are unknowingly living with hepatitis. Because hepatitis often shows no symptoms in its early stages, many people only discover they have it when severe liver damage has already occurred.

This silent disease continues to affect millions across the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 304 million people are living with chronic hepatitis B or C globally. Every year, more than 1.3 million people die from hepatitis-related illnesses, making it one of the leading infectious causes of death worldwide. Even more concerning, only about 13% of people living with hepatitis B and 36% of those with hepatitis C know their status.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community whose future can be changed through awareness, early testing, vaccination, and treatment.

At Entepesi Kenya, we believe that knowledge is the first medicine. Through community health education, EK is committed to empowering communities with accurate health information, reducing stigma, and encouraging people to know their hepatitis status. A simple test today could prevent a lifetime of complications tomorrow.

This World Hepatitis Day, let us choose action over silence.
 Get tested
 Get vaccinated against Hepatitis B
 Seek treatment early if diagnosed.
 Share accurate information and help end the stigma.

Together, we can create healthier communities where no one loses their life to a disease that can be prevented, detected, and treated.

Transforming Lives Through Knowledge.

We successfully conducted orientation for the hypertension and diabetes program across the 4 of the community health units trained last month.

Our journey began in Namelok unit on 8th July 2026 and Emumuny Unit on 9th July 2026. Today, we concluded the series of meetings with (CHPs) at Dandelion Health Center/Kilimanjaro in Risa, located in the rural Entonet/Lenkism Ward.

These meetings provided an important platform to engage CHPs, strengthen coordination, and prepare for the successful implementation of hypertension and diabetes prevention education, screening, and management activities within the community.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Rocky Vista University and the Institute for Community Evolution for partnering with Entepesi Kenya and supporting efforts to ensure this vital program reaches and positively impacts communities at the grassroots level.
