Ciheb Kenya participated in a joint graduate seminar hosted by Discover JKUAT in collaboration with Indiana University Indianapolis on Thursday May 28th, focused on strengthening academic partnerships, public health research and capacity development.

The seminar brought together scholars, researchers, and health sector stakeholders from Kenya and the U.S. to explore collaboration in global health and innovation.

Dr. Ngeno delivered a presentation on “Supplementing Public Health Response to Global and Community Health Challenges: A Case Study on the Role of Ciheb Kenya in Kenya.”

Ciheb Kenya values such partnerships in advancing knowledge exchange, strengthening research capacity, and supporting sustainable public health interventions.

This week, Ciheb Kenya through the U.S. Department of State hosted a U.S. delegation at Mbagathi County Hospital (Nairobi) and Lumumba Sub county Hospital (Kisumu), for a first-hand experience on the implementation of health interventions.
The visit provided an opportunity to engage with frontline healthcare workers and observe ongoing efforts in disease prevention and response, service delivery, and health systems strengthening at facility level.
We were also honored to hold discussions centred around support and funding from the U.S. Government towards strengthening health programs and improving health outcomes for communities across Kenya.
The engagements further provided an opportunity to discuss the future of health programming within the evolving global funding landscape and the importance of sustained partnerships in advancing resilient and sustainable healthcare systems.

As Kenya continues to strengthen disease surveillance and preparedness systems, Ciheb Kenya, Ciheb Global continues to support frontline healthcare workers through Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) initiatives, including technical assistance, assessments and coordinated response efforts.

These interventions are helping build the capacity of healthcare workers to respond to emerging and re-emerging public health threats and disease outbreaks such as MPOX, polio, cholera, Ebola, dengue fever and other epidemic-prone infections.

By doing this, our focus is geared towards strengthening preparedness, supporting rapid response, and enhancing resilience across health systems to better safeguard public health.

Meeting communities where they are.
Ciheb Kenya conducted a moonlight outreach in Kibra-Mashimoni targeting high-risk groups and key populations within informal settlements.

Using edutainment, dance and community engagement activities, the outreach created an interactive platform to raise awareness on TB, lung health, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), while promoting health-seeking behavior within the community.

Community members accessed free TB screening, chest X-rays, clinical consultations, sample collection for presumptive TB patients, HTS, blood sugar testing, blood pressure checks, as well as referral and linkage services for continued care.

This activity was implemented through the Global Fund AMREF TB Program, under which Ciheb-Kenya serves as a sub-recipient. Ciheb Kenya Ciheb Global continues to bring essential healthcare services closer to underserved communities through innovative, people-centered outreach approaches.

As the Kenya Health Security Convention 2026 concludes, we reflect on a week grounded in science, research and innovation.
From pandemic preparedness and One Health to digital innovation, biosafety, biosecurity (core to our work), and community engagement, reaffirmed that strong health systems are built through partnerships, data and inclusive leadership.
Proud to have Ciheb Kenya contributing to these conversations, showcasing our work, engaging stakeholders, and supporting efforts toward stronger, more resilient communities.

We remain committed to supporting health facilities to implement Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures to ensure safe handling of medical waste and biological materials thereby promoting safe clinical and community health practices
