JIVIS is an acronym for Jiinue Vi Smart, a registered community based organization, operating in Kilifi County with offices in Kilifi Town. The organization was formed and officially registered as a CBO on 14th March 2012 by a group of individuals working in both public and private sector,

CORE OBJECTIVES
1. To provide Community service through activities geared towards improving lives of the community through building capacity, information dessermination,trainings
2. To promote sustainable use and management of resources by the community
3. To establish an endowment fund to receive grants, donations, gifts and other assistance in any form, whatsoever from within or outside Kenya or any other source for one or more of the objects of the organization
4. To help communities to improve gender equity
5. To assist community effort to increase access to education for both gender
6. To strengthen community efforts to eradicate poverty
7. To help community improve their health standards through advocacy activities
ORGANIZATION’S CURRENT THEMATIC FOCUS
Education
Done through the girl’s forum established in the targeted schools to promote use of re-usable sanitary towels among adolescent girls to ensure they stay in school at every stage of their menstrual cycle. Girls are educated on Menstrual and Hygiene Management though regular sessions conducted by the organization and the schools patrons.
Reproductive Health
This is done through:
Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), awareness and sensitization, guidance and counseling, distribution of Information Education and Communication materials, HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing and community outreaches.
Livelihoods Support
Provision of sustainable and profitable means of livelihoods, training of Income Generating Activities and financial management, support to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs’) to attain vocational skills and provision of basic start up tool kits
Child protection
Formation and training of child protection committees, community dialogue meetings, and support to community led initiatives on child protection
Sanitation & Hygiene
This is done through a model branded as Community Lead Total Sanitation where communities take their own initiatives to promote environmental hygiene though construction and use of toilets and hand washing facilities.
PARTNERSHIPS & COLLABORATIONS
To ensure sustainability of its programming, JIVIS will create partnerships with relevant institutions and individuals to leverage on resources in order to drive its mandate in providing services to the target communities
