Successful Joint Tree Planting Exercise at Pwani University on 5/29/2026.

The Pwani University Environmental Club (PUEC) is pleased to share the successful ex*****on of today’s joint tree planting exercise, conducted in collaboration with the Pwani University Tree Growing Committee and university staff following an official invitation extended to the club.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation, restore biodiversity, enhance campus sustainability, and contribute towards the Government of Kenya’s national tree growing agenda and the global climate action goals under the UN Climate Change Framework (UNFCCC).

The activity was successfully carried out across two key sites, with a total of 1,500 trees planted:

📍 School TVET Farm – Indigenous trees were planted to support biodiversity restoration and ecosystem conservation.

📍 SASA Grounds – Citrus and mango fruit trees were planted to promote food sustainability, green spaces, and orchard development within the university.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all PUEC members, university staff, and partners who actively participated in this impactful exercise. Your dedication, teamwork, and environmental stewardship greatly contributed to the success of the activity.
Together, we continue taking meaningful steps towards a greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient future.

200 TREES. ONE MORNING. ONE COMMUNITY.

Yesterday, Saturday 2nd May 2025, the Pwani University Environmental Club (PUEC) made history at the TVET Farm planting 200 indigenous trees between 9AM and 11AM!

This wasn't just tree planting. This was a deliberate choice indigenous species carefully selected to restore local biodiversity, strengthen our campus ecosystem, and build long-term environmental resilience right here on the Kenyan coast.

A huge THANK YOU to:
The Pwani University Administration for unwavering support
The Department of Environmental & Earth Sciences (SEES) for technical guidance
Every PUEC member who showed up and showed out!

This activity directly supports Kenya's 15 billion trees agenda.
Globally, it aligns with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030) and contributes to SDG 15: Life on Land and SDG 13: Climate Action.
