Jambo Fam!๐Ÿ˜Š

Day 2 of the National SDGs Multi-Stakeholder Conference offered a full day of meaningful reflection and practical dialogue. The discussions moved from inclusive growth and development to the role of youth in shaping resilient food systems and climate solutions. Speakers challenged us to think about whether our current actions match the urgency of the challenges we face, especially around climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and equitable financing.

We also spent time examining people-powered progress, how stronger citizen engagement and community leadership can accelerate SDG implementation. The conversations on financing for development further highlighted the need for inclusive, strategic, and well-aligned partnerships if we are to make real progress toward 2030.

A day of learning, honest insight, and renewed commitment to collaboration. We are grateful to be part of a national space that brings diverse voices together to drive the SDGs forward.

As we continue the 16 Days of Activism campaign, we are glad to have participated in a sensitisation meeting on Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV) organised by Search for Common Ground and CREAW Kenya.

The session highlighted the importance of digital literacy, examined harmful gender norms and stereotypes, and explored the legal frameworks that guide online safety. It also reinforced the urgent need to build safer digital spaces, promote responsible online engagement, and address online harms, especially those targeting women and girls.

We remain committed to advocating for awareness, protection, and accountability in the fight against all forms of online gender-based violence.

On World Childrenโ€™s Day 2025, EmpowerNet Org joined partners in the County Government of Kilifi under the theme โ€œMy Day, My Rightsโ€ with one purpose: to advance a safe and supportive environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive. This year, Kilifi County proudly hosted the National World Childrenโ€™s Day 2025 celebrations, and EmpowerNet was glad to support.

The event brought together the Ministry of Children and Affirmative Action, represented by the State Department of Childrenโ€™s Welfare; the National Council for Children Services, represented by Sophia Abdi Noor; the judiciary led by Lady Justice Thandi, Judge of the Malindi Law Courts; the County Government of Kilifi represented by the Deputy Governor Hon. Flora Chibule; and CSOs including World Vision, CREAW Kenya, YVAI, Plan International Kenya, CFK, MWARP, UNICEF Kenya, and others working to promote childrenโ€™s rights.

Mr Abdinoor S. Mohammed, CEO of NCCS, emphasized that children are not passive receivers but active participants in shaping their rights. Deputy Governor Hon. Flora Chibule urged all partners to remain intentional in the digital age, where children face new online risks, and called for collective effort to ensure they thrive in education, health, and all aspects of life.
We must ensure that children fully enjoy their rights, and promote positive parenting that guides and supports them while allowing them to make informed choices, rather than making decisions for them.

As advocates and duty bearers, our commitment is to create spaces where every child is safe, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.
