Say hello to our new tree nursery!! 💚

Together with Green World and our community we have planted 3,000 casuarina seeds at Eco Moyo. It’s our job to care for them until they’re ready to be planted, then the children and parents will bring them home to make sure they grow big!

Casuarina trees are fast-growing evergreen trees that do well in coastal areas, where the soil is sandy and the weather is often hot, salty and windy. When they grow, they can provide shade, help protect the soil from erosion and be used for timber, poles or firewood. For families, this can become useful both at home and as a possible source of income later on.

Another good thing is that mature Casuarina trees produce seeds, which means new seedlings can be grown again in the future. So if they are cared for well, this is not just one round of tree planting, but something that can continue and grow over time.

We’re excited to see these little babies grow big and proud to contribute to a practical, local and long-term project for the environment and our community 💚🌱

March recap!

Our International Women’s Day was cut a little short due to rain: cultivating the land has of course highest priority, but we had a very successful workshop of making reusable pads!

Our Chess team made it all the way from Kilifi to Nairobi!!!!! Holy crap - this is so big and had some drama to it, that we wrote a blogpost about, you can read more on our website!

The swimming classes have continued, to see the students going from being afraid of the water to run and jump in feeling confident has been everything we wanted and more 😍

We put some more names on our Wall of Gratitude 🥰

And we recreated a picture from 2020: Issah & Alex on the bench in PP2 and now in grade 6 🤩

This years World Day of Happiness 🥰🩷

Our Happiness Tree is up, and what makes our students happy are things like eating, playing, dancing and reading - all things we do here at Eco Moyo. 🥰
(And joking and making noise 😂)

Thanks to everyone supporting us, together we spread happiness and make a real difference 🩷🧡

The fact that some boys in grade 5 answers ”joking & making noise” on the question ”What makes you happy?” tells us exactly how cheeky they are 😂

Guys!! This Saturday at Eco Moyo is a big one!! Help us make it possible 🧡

Our chess team has qualified for the regional tournament all the way in Mombasa (🤩)

To cover the full day — transport, lunch and registration — we need 850 NOK / $ 85.

Would you like to help send our chess stars to Mombasa?

At the very same time, we will celebrate International Women’s Day (one day early) with every girl from PP1 to Grade 9, together with their mothers and female guardians.

After our Girls’ Day in October, we saw how powerful it is to bring girls and mothers together. The openness, the conversations and the sense of unity made one thing clear: this space matters.

This Saturday will combine celebration and practical knowledge:

– A traditional dance workshop and student-led fashion show to build confidence and joy!
– Menstrual health education to break down stigma across generations
– Training in making reusable sanitary pads, offering a practical and affordable solution
– Breakfast porridge so everyone can fully take part in the day

This is about strengthening girls and women — together.

We are aiming to raise 5,000 NOK / $ 516 — not only to make this Saturday possible, but to continue reusable pad workshops and provide materials throughout the year. We want this to become an ongoing initiative, not just a one-day event.

Please follow the link in the comments and help us turn this into real impact! And, feel free to share as always 🩷🧡
