Empowering Coaches to Champion Positive Masculinity
From 27th–29th May 2026, MTG conducted a YMEP Coaches Training Camp in Garsen, Tana River, equipping 9 coaches from Kulesa, Wema, Hewani, and Vumbwe villages with skills to use football as a tool for promoting positive masculinity, gender equality, SRHR awareness, and GBV prevention.
By strengthening coaches as mentors and role models, we are helping build safer, more inclusive, and equitable communities.

Yesterday, twenty MTG girls from Kulesa and Reuben Mwewe league fields took part in the Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration held at Garsen School in Tana River County.

The girls actively engaged in football drills integrated with menstrual hygiene messaging, helping to build awareness and encourage open, honest conversations around menstrual health and hygiene. They also showcased the Take 5 session, demonstrating confidence, enthusiasm, and active participation throughout the activity.

One of our girls, Alexina Pascal, a youth peer provider, led a practical demonstration on the correct use of sanitary pads, including how to properly wear and remove them. The session was highly interactive and informative, equipping the girls with essential knowledge on menstrual hygiene management while strengthening their confidence to manage menstruation safely and with dignity.

Overall, the activity created a safe and engaging space for girls to learn, participate, and share experiences, while promoting both sport and menstrual hygiene awareness.

For many girls, a period begins with silence, uncertainty, and missed opportunities.
But with knowledge, dignity, and support, it becomes a reminder of strength, confidence, and resilience.
A period should never stand in the way of a girl’s dreams.

Today, together with other partners and the Kilifi Department of Health and Sanitation Services, we marked World Menstrual Hygiene Day under the theme “Together for a Period Friendly World” at ACC Grounds, Matanomane in Ganze Sub-County.

At MTG, we continue to champion menstrual hygiene awareness by creating safe spaces for girls to access knowledge, break stigma, and speak openly about menstrual health with confidence and dignity. Through our programs, we believe every girl deserves the support and resources needed to thrive without shame or limitation.

During the event, girls and parents were also taken through an engaging menstrual hygiene drill where they were taught the importance of maintaining cleanliness during menstruation and educated on the products and items that should be kept clean and hygienic during this period.

The day also saw girls receive dignity kits to support their menstrual health and wellbeing, ensuring they can manage their periods safely and confidently.

Together, we can build a world where no girl is left behind because of her period.

Moving The Goalposts Kenya was featured at the SafeSport26 Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, through a presentation by our Safeguarding Officer, Anne Wambugu, titled “It Takes a Village: Community-Led Safeguarding in Coastal Kenya.” The session highlighted MTG’s practical experience in building safer sporting spaces for girls through community-led safeguarding, Girl Safeguarders, trusted reporting pathways, and the use of football fields as spaces where girls can play, lead, speak up, and be protected. MTG is proud to contribute to global conversations on safe sport while sharing lessons from coastal Kenya on how safeguarding can move from policy into everyday practice.
