Day 1: UN Women – DigiKen Mission Visit to Kilifi County | 7th July 2026.

A day of connection, inspiration, and shared purpose.

We were delighted to host the UN Women and ACTS teams in Kilifi for a DigiKen Program progress review. The visit began at North Coast Medical Training College, where we engaged with students and staff, celebrated inspiring innovations, and planted trees as a symbol of growth and sustainability.

We later joined H.E. Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro - OGW, Chief Patron of Kilifi Innovation Hub, and H.E. Deputy Governor Hon. Flora Mbetsa Chibule along side other county staff at the Governors Residence, for a roundtable discussion on DigiKen’s impact and future collaborations. The day was crowned with interactions with innovators, entrepreneurs, learners, and recognition of our Most Progressive Learners and Digiken Interns for their dedication.

Together with Kilifi County’s ICT & Innovation office Ms. Winnie Luwali and Kilifi Municipality Manager Mr. Mwango Kalu, we also planted trees at Mazingira Park, marking the journey towards a greener, more innovative future.

We are grateful to our UN Women, ACTS, the County Government of Kilifi, Khairat Hospital Klf our Digiken leaners and learning institutions partners: Kilifi County VTCs, Pwani University, Pwani University TVET, MKU Malindi, Northcoast Medical Training College, Bandari Maritime College, Compassion Matano Mane and all DigiKen partners for making this meaningful day a success. Together, we continue to transform lives through digital empowerment and innovation.
