Dada Yangu Organization was recognized as the Most Impactful Transformative Organization in East Africa of the Year 2026 at the 7th Edition of the East African Superwoman Awards.

This recognition is a reminder that the work we do for girls and young women matters. From advocating for menstrual dignity and girl-child empowerment to fighting child marriage and creating safe spaces for underserved communities — every step has been worth it.

During today’s Multi-Stakeholder Strategy Dialogue at Kilifi Primary School, Kilifi Township Area Chief Kitole emphasized the critical role of the Nyumba Kumi cluster system in preventing violence and strengthening community safety.

He highlighted that real protection begins at the household and neighborhood level where Nyumba Kumi structures can regularly meet, share information and stay alert to any risks or intruders that may threaten the safety of children and families.

There was a strong call for partners and organizations to invest in and support these community engagements so that Nyumba Kumi units are empowered to function effectively as early warning and response systems.

Strengthening these grassroots networks is key to building safer, more informed and more connected communities where every girl is protected.

Today at Kilifi Primary School, we convened a Multi-Stakeholder Strategy Dialogue on Ending Violence Against Girls in Kilifi County bringing together CSOs, GBV champions, youth leaders women-led groups and community influencers to collectively address the growing crisis of violence against girls.

The dialogue focused on identifying gaps in prevention and response systems strengthening community protection mechanisms improving reporting and referral pathways and co-creating practical community-driven solutions to keep girls safe.

This was not just a discussion but a commitment session towards accountability action and sustained community engagement. Together we agreed that protecting girls is a collective responsibility and silence can never be an option.

A safer Kilifi for every girl begins with all of us.
