Today, on World TB Day, we are reminded that ending tuberculosis is not only a medical effort, it is a collective responsibility.

At Kesho Kenya, we believe that access to the right information is just as important as access to treatment.

Across our communities, TB continues to be affected by stigma, silence, and delayed health-seeking behaviour. Many people still struggle to recognize symptoms early or feel safe enough to come forward and seek care.

Through community engagement, we have seen the power of:

Trusted community voices
Safe spaces that encourage openness and reduce stigma

Ending TB requires more than awareness. It requires trust, understanding, and consistent engagement with the people most affected.

As we mark today, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening community-led approaches that empower individuals with knowledge, encourage early action, and promote dignity in care.

Together, we can end TB.

Kesho Kenya participated in a two-day Advocacy Workshop to write and review the Draft Kilifi County Adolescent and Young People (AYP) Health Strategy (2025–2030).

The workshop, supported by The East African Centre for Human Rights - EACHRights and convened in collaboration with the Kilifi CSO Health Thematic Group led by Youth Voices & Action Initiative and Kilifi Department of Health and Sanitation Services, brought together civil society organizations and county government stakeholders to jointly review and validate the draft strategy. Participants provided technical and experiential input and built consensus toward its adoption, budgeting, and effective implementation.

The workshop strengthened collaboration and shared accountability in advancing adolescent and young people’s health and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) priorities in Kilifi County.

Kesho Kenya remains committed to supporting initiatives that empower young people and foster thriving, healthy communities.

For 13 years, Chris and Katy have faithfully supported Kesho Kenya by sponsoring children through school and walking alongside us in our mission to build brighter futures.
We are delighted to welcome them to Kenya. During their visit, they generously donated stationery and educational games for our Resource Center, along with shoes and glasses in support of our broader community efforts.

These contributions go beyond material support, they reflect care, consistency, and a deep belief in the work we do.

Thank you, Chris and Katy, for standing with us for over a decade. Your impact continues to be felt in meaningful ways.

We are grateful to Tony and Trish for stopping by our Kesho Kenya office in Kilifi and donating reading glasses to support our community learners. It really means so much to us.

This is not their first time showing up for our community, during their last visit to Kenya they donated a bicycle. Tony and Trish are truly amazing people with big hearts, and we are thankful for the love and kindness they continue to share.

Asanteni sana for walking this journey with us.

We were pleased to host So They Can for a learning visit at Kesho Kenya, providing an opportunity to share insights into our work and impact within the community.
As part of the visit, the team from So They Can toured Kibarani Primary School, where they were taken around the school to observe ongoing efforts as well as existing gaps, particularly in relation to children living with disabilities. The visit created space for meaningful reflection on inclusive education and the need for strengthened support systems within learning environments.
The engagement also included a community meeting, bringing together community members, school administration and Kesho Kenya to discuss collaborative approaches to bridging gaps in education, inclusion and community development. The discussions highlighted the importance of strong partnerships, community participation and coordinated efforts in achieving sustainable and inclusive outcomes.
We appreciate the opportunity to learn together and strengthen partnerships that advance equity, dignity and quality education for all children.

We were happy to host Swahilipot Hub at our Kilifi offices after they paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Deputy Governor of Kilifi County as part of their expansion into Kilifi, Nairobi, and Kitui counties. During the engagement, they introduced the Vijana 2 Thrive Program, shared its objectives, and we discussed probable areas of collaboration with county governments and local partners to strengthen youth access to dignified and sustainable livelihoods.
Kesho Kenya remains committed to partnerships that advance practical, youth-centred, community-led solutions.

Data like this should push us to act.

Recent figures place Kilifi among the counties with the highest proportion of schools reporting teenage pregnancy. From community level work in Kilifi, this reflects realities many families and girls are already living with. Teenage pregnancy is not only a health concern. It is closely tied to education, protection, access to SRHR information and services, and how well our systems respond to risk early enough.

If we are serious about improving outcomes for adolescents, evidence like this must shape policy choices, county budgets, and implementation on the ground. Keeping girls in school, strengthening protection, and ensuring youth friendly health services cannot remain commitments on paper.

This is where accountability matters most.

To mark the 16 days of Activism Against Gender- Based- Violence ,Kesho Kenya proudly convened partners under the AMUA Future Project for a powerful Joint Advocacy Forum in Kilifi, bringing together youth, CSOs, government agencies, religious leaders, GBV champions and community elders to confront digital violence against women and girls.
As digital spaces expand, so do risks such as online harassment, cyberbullying, doxing and digital exploitation. Through open dialogue and collective action, we explored community-driven solutions to protect women and girls both online and offline.

Our commitment remains strong:
-Engaging men and boys in conversations to end GBV
-Challenging harmful norms that drive child marriage and FGM
-Promoting safe and inclusive digital spaces
-Empowering youth as champions of change
With the support of Orchid – Girls Not Brides Kenya, our network continues to strengthen coordination, enhance digital literacy and empower survivors to access justice and support services.

Call to Action:
-Speak up against digital violence online and offline -Educate your community on safe and responsible digital use
-Support survivors by sharing available reporting and support pathways
-Join us in building safe digital spaces where women and girls can thrive
A safer digital world begins with informed and united communities and we are proud to be part of this transformative movement.
