On Saturday, 25th April 2026, something truly special unfolded at YMCA Kibarani young voices came together, hearts opened up, and a powerful conversation about mental health and resilience took center stage.
Over 65 young people from across Kilifi County showed up and showed up FULLY. They came ready to talk, ready to listen, and ready to heal.
What Made This Day Special
In partnership with Youth4 Integrity Building, Shining Hope for Communities and other incredible CSOs within Kilifi County, we created more than just an event we created a safe space. A space where no topic was too heavy, no story too personal, and no struggle too small to be heard.
Young people shared their experiences, learned practical tools for managing mental health challenges, and together we began charting a way forward — because mental health is not a conversation we can afford to keep postponing.
From the opening session to the closing remarks, the energy was electric. Participants engaged deeply, asked bold questions, and challenged each other to rethink how we as a community show up for one another when mental health battles hit close to home.
65 youth. One room. One mission to break the silence.
Mental health affects all of us students, young professionals, youth leaders, and community members alike. Today proved that when we come together in honesty and solidarity, healing becomes possible.
We are grateful to every partner, facilitator, and youth who made this dialogue a success. You are the reason Kilifi's youth mental health conversation is growing stronger every day.
To everyone who attended THANK YOU for your courage and your voice. You made history.
And to those who couldn't make it stay connected, because this conversation is far from over.
