Yesterday, Youth Voices and Action Initiative (YVAI), in partnership with the Department of Health Kilifi, APHRC, and KELIN, convened a high-level inception meeting to advance the implementation of the RMNCAH Act in Kilifi County.
The convening brought together county leadership, researchers, legal experts, and community actors to align priorities, strengthen accountability frameworks, and co-create actionable pathways for improving sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health outcomes.
Through evidence from the Nisaidie Usinidhuru study and grounded community insights, we are bridging the gap between policy and lived realities ensuring that systems respond to the needs of women, girls, and young people.
This marks a critical step toward coordinated action, where data, law, and community voices drive sustainable change in health systems.

This week, the Binti Pwani Cluster convened powerful community dialogue with adolescent girls, young women, and young mothers creating spaces for honest conversations, shared experiences, and collective action.
We engaged on children’s rights, prevention and reduction of teenage pregnancy, and the importance of access to youth-friendly information and services. Central to these discussions was amplifying awareness of safe spaces where girls and young women can access support, build confidence, and gain practical skills for their future.
These dialogues are more than conversations—they are pathways to agency. By equipping AGYW with knowledge, connecting them to safe spaces, and strengthening peer support systems, we are fostering a generation that is informed, resilient, and empowered to make decisions about their lives.
Together, we are shifting narratives, strengthening community accountability, and investing in sustainable change for girls and young women along the coast.

We were honored to participate in the regional dialogue on the validation of the Reference Manual on Parental Consent Requirements for Adolescents to Access Sexual and Reproductive Health Services convened by together with the Kenya Judiciary Academy.
As Youth Voices and Action Initiative, we value this strategic platform that brought together diverse stakeholders across the region to reflect, learn, and strengthen approaches toward adolescent SRHR access.

During the dialogue, we amplified voices from our communities highlighting how parental consent requirements, stigma, information gaps, and provider bias continue to limit adolescent girls’ access to essential services. These perspectives are grounded in lived realities and reinforce the need for inclusive, youth-centered legal and policy frameworks. The regional exchange created a powerful opportunity for cross-country learning, sharing best practices, and building collective momentum for advocacy. It reaffirmed the importance of sustained partnerships in advancing responsive systems that uphold adolescents’ rights, dignity, and access to care.We look forward to continued collaboration and advocacy, and we remain hopeful that the final manual will be a practical and transformative tool across the region.

Last week in Nairobi, Youth Voices and Action Initiative (YVAI) participated in a convening with AmplifyChange and fellow partners under the Pamoja Advocacy Kenya.
We are honored to be part of this partnership together with Amplify change in advancing policy and community engagement to strengthen access to quality Post-Rape Care (PRC) and Post-Abortion Care (PAC) services in Kilifi County.
This meeting provided a valuable opportunity to align strategies, strengthen partnerships, and reaffirm our collective commitment to advancing SRHR for adolescent girls and young women.

Today, powerful conversations unfolded across Kilifi North as adolescent girls and young women gathered in safe spaces at Kilifi County Hospital, Kiwandani Dispensary, and Gede Health Facility. Through Majadiliano ya Wanarika dialogues under the Nisaidie Usinidhuru Project, young women came together to learn, share experiences, and strengthen their knowledge on critical sexual and reproductive health services.
Led by trained youth advocates, these peer-led conversations create spaces where AGYW can speak openly about issues that often remain hidden — including access to Post-Rape Care (PRC) and Post-Abortion Care (PAC). By placing young people at the center, the initiative helps break stigma, build trust in health services, and strengthen the connection between communities and health facilities.
When young women are empowered with the right information and supportive environments, they become powerful champions of their own health and wellbeing.
This work continues to show that meaningful community engagement is key to improving access to life-saving services for girls and young women.
🤝 Implemented through collaboration between Youth Voices and Action Initiative (YVAI), Angaza Youth Initiative, RHNK, Kilifi County Department of Health, APHRC, and Rutgers.
Together, we are nurturing a generation of informed, confident, and empowered young women. 🌍✨
