URGENT: Foster Home Needed 🙏

Cabbage and Patch are ready for the next step on their journey to their forever homes.

They’ve come so far, and now need a foster home where they can keep growing, building confidence and preparing for adoption.

In this stage, what matters most is helping them:
✨ feel safe in a home
🌍 experience new places and everyday life
🎓 learn the basics and build confidence
💛 show us who they are so we can find them the right forever home

Why is this so urgent?
Because when Cabbage & Patch move into a new foster home, it will allow their current foster to step in for the next urgent case...in this case, a mum and her 9 puppies.

That early stage of care is intensive and time-sensitive. We have an experienced foster ready to take it on.

What we need now is someone to take the next step with Cabbage & Patch so we can step in for these mum and pups.

Ideally, Cabbage and Patch would go together 💛

When an organization like Pawmoja or makes a public appeal for fosters, it’s easy to pause for a moment… and then talk yourself out of it.

“Not enough space. Not enough experience. I’m traveling next month. What if I get attached? And anyway, this post is public… I’m sure someone else will respond.”

But often, no one does.

In Nairobi, there is a constant and overwhelming need for temporary homes for kittens, puppies, and adult dogs and cats. Some are in immediate danger. Others are safe but withdrawn and deteriorating in crowded shelter environments, overlooked by potential adopters. And others are community animals whose ability to be spayed/neutered or treated for illness or injury depends on having somewhere to rest and recover before returning to their communities.

The reality is that the number of animals needing temporary refuge far exceeds both shelter capacity and the number of people who foster. That gap puts real strain on the system and limits how many animals can be helped.

You don’t need to be an expert to foster. You just need to be willing, patient, and open to learning.

And you don’t have to wait for an appeal. There are animals right now whose lives would completely change if given the chance to spend even a short time in a home.

If you’re even a little bit curious about fostering, reach out. We’re happy to talk it through, answer questions, and figure out what might work for you.

If fostering isn’t possible right now, there are still ways to help:
• Become a virtual foster and sponsor the day-to-day care of an animal in foster
• Become an adoption liaison for animals in foster (more on this soon 👀)
• Share adoption flyers and promote adoption in your networks (adopt, don’t shop!)
• Donate to fund spay/neuter, vaccination, and access to veterinary care in Kibera, addressing the problem at its root. M-Pesa (PayBill): 891300; Account: 105034
