Join us for Padel for Pups this Sunday, 4 October, at Gigiri Social Club: a charity padel tournament and chance to meet and play with some of Pawmoja’s adoptable pups. 🐾🎾

🐶 Meet the pups from 11 am–3 pm. Everyone is welcome, whether or not you play padel. Adoptions won’t happen on the day; if you meet a potential match, Pawmoja 🐾🤲 will guide you through the adoption process. 🎾 Play padel. The padel tournament runs from 12–2 pm, with one open tournament for all players. Entry is KSh 2,000 per person, and 100% of entry fees will support Pawmoja’s work to prevent and alleviate suffering among community animals in Kibera.

To join the tournament, you must register and pay in advance through Gigiri Social Club: call or message 0798 400 900. No walk-in entries.

Oh, and come hungry! Italian Excellence Since 2004 will be there with delicious food and drinks. We’d love to see you.

We’re bringing some of our adoptable pups to Biz Baz Events this weekend, and they’d love to meet you! 🐾

If you’ve been thinking about adopting a puppy, come say hello and learn how to apply. Looking for an older dog instead? We’d be happy to tell you about the dogs waiting for homes. You can also ask us about fostering 💜

We’ll gladly accept donations of food, blankets, toys, hot water bottles, puppy or kitten formula, dewormer, flea and tick treatment, crates, and other useful supplies. They’ll help us care for animals recently brought into our care and support caregivers looking after mums and pups in Kibera.

We are overwhelmed, and we need practical help.

We know prevention is the only sustainable way forward. But while we work to raise funds to prevent the next litter, we cannot ignore the animals already here.

Right now, our most urgent need is foster space and support to cover the daily care and vet bills of animals in our care.

Here are the different ways you can support:

🏠 Foster these puppies: We need people who can take them in pairs, groups of three, or all seven.

🐕 Foster (or adopt!) an older puppy or adult dog: This would free up suitable space for the younger puppies.

🥣 Donate supplies: Blankets, hot water bottles, etc. Please message us to learn about our most urgent needs. 🙏

💛 Donate towards their care: see funding links in bio or send a message on WhatsApp to learn how you can send a donation directly to our vet partners.

💉 Support prevention: Sponsor the spay, vaccination and return of a female community dog in Kibera… and prevent another litter of puppies from suffering.

‘Yes’ is a short word for what can become a very long commitment.
Taking an animal into our care means treatment, vaccination, deworming, sterilisation, food & daily care for as long as they need us. More than 70 animals currently depend on Pawmoja to keep that promise.
Some will return to supported caregivers in Kibera when ready. Most need adoptive homes. Many arrived as puppies or kittens; returning them would add to communities already struggling to care for those around them. That would be unfair to animals & people alike.
When an animal is adopted into the right home or safely returns to a supported caregiver, our daily workload & ongoing costs fall. Adoption fees do not come close to covering the average cost of each ‘yes’. But every adoption reduces the costs we carry forward, while every donation helps meet them. Both make those commitments more manageable & the next ‘yes’ more possible.
Together, they leave more time & resources for sterilisation, vaccination, early intervention & community caregiver support, so fewer animals reach crisis over time.
But getting there requires something else too: people need to STOP BUYING PETS.
Across Nairobi, buying sustains demand for more animals to be bred & sold. Each sale, however ‘ethical’ or ‘responsible’ the buyer believes the breeder to be, signals that money can be made. We are seeing more & more people breeding for money, producing yet more puppies and kittens while communities & animal welfare orgs are already struggling to care for those here now.
Adoption gives an animal a home without adding to that demand or pouring fuel on this crisis. Every adoption makes the next ‘yes’ more possible. Every purchase adds to the demand that makes future ‘yeses’ necessary.

URGENT FOSTER NEEDED: MUM + FIVE PUPPIES

Yesterday we met a mother dog nursing five puppies, estimated to be around four to five weeks old.

The household and neighbours say they can no longer manage the noise and mess. When we arrived, they were preparing to put the puppies in a sack and throw them into the river.

They agreed to give us 48 hours to find another solution. Children in the neighbourhood kept the puppies safe overnight, but the deadline has since been moved up to the end of today.

We need to move the whole family urgently.

The puppies are still nursing and need to remain with their mother. Every Pawmoja foster space is already full, and KSPCA has confirmed that its shelter is already far beyond capacity and cannot take them.

We need someone who can foster all six together for at least the next six weeks.

If you can help, or think you might be able to (even if you’re not sure if you space/circumstances can accomodate), please message us and we’ll talk it through.

At this age, we will not place these five puppies individually.

However, if you cannot foster the whole family but could foster one or two older puppies already in Pawmoja’s care, please let us know. This could free up an existing foster home to take the mum and pups.

Beetroot Snuffleupagus has been officially vindicated.

More than 60 witnesses confirmed that he is real, not AI and not a vegetable.

Unfortunately, this did not resolve the Beetroot situation. Within hours, a large number of very fake Beetroots appeared.

An unlikely investigative throuple was assembled: Beetroot (as a banana), Banana and Katumbo. After a brief Katumbo-induced delay, they infiltrated the cell and presented their findings:

The Kenyan Shepherd puppies thought they needed to look like Beetroot to get noticed. 😭

Kenyan Shepherd Dogs may be familiar, but they are far from ordinary. They are clever, loyal, affectionate, adaptable, resilient, hilarious and completely individual.

They are Kenyan originals, and we believe they are among the country’s most underrated national treasures.

Sometimes the dogs we see most often are the easiest to overlook. We understand that people may have a particular breed or appearance in mind when looking to welcome a dog into their family. But it breaks our hearts when remarkable KSDs are overlooked before they are given a chance.

They should not have to pretend to be anyone else to get people to see what incredible dogs they already are.

The wigs have now come off, and six KSD puppies are in recovery: Phil, Pomela, Blue Bell, Brie, Alan and Benji Button.

Please reassure them in the comments that the wigs were never necessary!

All six are available for adoption. Pawmoja also has many other amazing, lovable KSD puppies and adults looking for homes.
