Today, we showed up in service.

As part of our anniversary celebrations, joined community members, partners, staff, and volunteers for a Community Cleanup at Undugu Grounds in Silanga Village.

For us, service is not separate from celebration. It is how we honor the community we live in, work with, and continue to learn from every day. Keeping our shared spaces clean is one way of protecting health, restoring dignity, and reminding ourselves that community transformation begins with collective action.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up today and walked alongside us, not just today, but throughout the last 25 years.

Tomorrow, we celebrate the community champions who keep this spirit alive!

David Omari, founder of the Angaza Parents Welfare Initiative, is a nominee for ’s 2026 Community Champion award. Since 2018, he has expanded Angaza from a support group into a community-led initiative. Through member savings, Angaza has acquired rental properties that fund welfare activities, highlighting sustainable community leadership.

"No girl should lose her future." Throwback to a visit by Faith Odhiambo, 51st president of the Law Society of Kenya, and OCTOPIZZO, award-winning recording artist to 's HQ in . They witnessed the power of our Girls' Parliament in action, where girls are identifying the gaps in justice for survivors of gender-based violence and advocating for solutions. Thank you for joining us in advocating for the protection, justice, and pathways to rebuild their futures that girls and young mothers in slums deserve.

Some stories begin at Nairobi Dam and develop into locally-led organizations that serve over 200,000 youth across 26 slums. This is a prime example of community leadership!

I remember first walking here next to the old Nairobi Dam (which still had water in it then) to visit an informal school with our late cofounder Tabitha Atieno Festo in summer 2000. Shortly afterward I got severely ill with malaria and Tabitha nursed me to health with charcoal tabs and other traditional meds. We miss you, Mama. As you said and put on the sign of our first clinic “Sacrificing for Success.” In other words, persistence.

The team joined mothers, health workers, and partners at St. Mary’s Hospital to celebrate . The discussions emphasized the support that mothers need, including accurate information, confidence, nutritional guidance, and a caring community. Such gatherings help mothers learn and feel supported in giving their babies a healthy start. We remain committed to supporting mothers and caregivers in promoting better infant feeding and healthier children.

This week, the Sports team celebrated a milestone as our mentor coaches were certified after completing the training with American Institutes for Research (AIR). Through hands-on drills, coaches learned how to utilize sports to teach values such as teamwork, respect, and inclusion. This is the essence of : empowering coaches to lead by example in our communities. Congratulations to our newly certified coaches! 🎉
