Menstruation is a natural part of life — yet millions of girls and women still face shame, silence, and lack of access to basic menstrual products.

Today, on World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we raise our voices to break the stigma, push for better access to menstrual health education, and ensure that no girl misses school or opportunity just because of her period.

Let’s build a world where menstruation is understood, supported, and managed with dignity — a for all."

Today, May 28, is World Menstrual Hygiene Day, a global movement dedicated to breaking taboos and raising awareness about the importance of good menstrual hygiene management. The theme for 2025 is "Together for a ", emphasizing collective action to ensure menstruation doesn't hinder access to education, health, or opportunities. Menstruation is natural, not shameful. On this World Menstrual Hygiene Day, let's unite for a where every girl and woman can manage her period with dignity and without stigma. Together, we can break the silence and ensure access to menstrual health for all."

At Jaawabu for communities , we believe that no girl should miss school because of a lack of sanitary pads. In our recent visit to Mikingirini, Kilifi County, we distributed sanitary pads and school uniforms to young girls, ensuring they stay in class with confidence and dignity.

Many girls in marginalized areas struggle to access menstrual products, leading to school dropouts and increased vulnerability to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). By providing these essentials, we help them become independent, stay in school, and build a better future.

When girls have what they need, they can focus on education instead of survival. Let's work together to create a safe, equal, and empowered society for all.

At JAAWABU For COMMUNITIES , we believe that empowering women and girls starts with meeting their basic needs. Our Pads Distribution Project is designed to reduce dependence on others, especially in vulnerable situations. By giving girls and women access to sanitary pads, we help protect their dignity, improve their education, and reduce the risk of exploitation and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

When girls have what they need, they can focus on their dreams without fear. Together, we can create a safer, stronger, and more equal society. Let’s continue to stand against SGBV and support solutions that make a real difference.

Yesterday , Jaawabu Organization joined hands for breast cancer awareness! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we were proud to stand together with , , and to support this important cause.

Breast cancer impacts many women, and early detection saves lives. Regular self-exams, mammograms, and being aware of changes in your body are crucial. Remember, a healthy lifestyle – including balanced nutrition, exercise, and reducing alcohol – can also lower risks.

Let’s keep spreading awareness to protect our mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. Together, we can make a difference.

On this special day, JAAWABU Organization celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child in Kilifi. We spent time with the girls, playing and sharing important life lessons. We also distributed sanitary pads to ensure they stay in school with confidence. In Kilifi, many girls lack access to proper sanitary education and hygiene products. Only 45% of girls in rural areas have access to the right information about menstrual health, and many miss up to 4 days of school each month due to lack of sanitary pads.

We are committed to changing this by supporting girls with the resources and knowledge they need. Together, we can help girls in Kilifi and other parts of Kenya to stay in school and achieve their dreams.

For the past three months, Jaawabu Organization has been dedicated to empowering young mothers in Syokimau through training in makeup, beauty, and nail care. We believe that skills in these areas can open doors to new opportunities and financial independence.

Alongside this training, we have also been providing sanitary towels to support their health and hygiene needs. Our goal is to help these women build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Join us in celebrating their hard work and progress! Together, we can make a difference.
