Soft plastics remain one of the hardest waste streams to process at community scale.
๐๐š๐ ๐ฌ, ๐ฐ๐ซ๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฑ๐ข๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐ฉ๐š๐œ๐ค๐š๐ ๐ข๐ง๐  are difficult to transport, difficult to sort, and often end up burned or dumped.
In Hawassa, a locally-built plastic shredder is helping convert these materials into ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐š๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ-๐ซ๐ž๐š๐๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ž๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐œ๐ค for recycled plastic manufacturing.
The system works especially well for ๐๐„ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐จ๐Ÿ๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ฌ and is already being integrated into local plastic-to-product workflows.
