AHCP`S PROGRAMMES:

1. Health and Sanitation Program

Our mission is to teach the community about health, hygiene and sanitation, and provide them with the necessary health facilities. Our main focus is to improve health and living standards in Kibera through various projects.

2. Library&Tutoring Program

This project has been started in order to help the kids who attend informal schools in th

e slum and do not have enough money to buy textbooks and other school supplies. We provide them with books and other stationery, and we organize daily tuitions. These kids who often cannot find enough peace, space or light at home can do their homework in our classrooms with fellow pupils.

3. Computer Program

Africa Health and Ccommunity Program runs computer classes, with the sole objective of community empowerment. These classes teach a variety of basic PC skills necessary for an employee to be productive in a modern work environment. The classes are individual and can be tailored to suit the individuals' needs.

4. Entrepreneurship Program

The program wants to provide basic business development knowledge and necessary skills training to the youth and women to enable them to start and sustain their own businesses. Through a 8 weeks training we help them to develope their business-plans and start small businesses. Due to the high unemployment in Kenya, self-employment is often the only way to ensure an income for families from the slum.

5. Women's Empowerment Program

- Wopepea Jewelry Project
This project includes a wide range of trainings and workshops for women from the Kibera slum. We provide information regarding HIV/AIDS, entrepreneurship etc. Currently we are organizing WoPepea (swahili for: "women flying"), a jewellery project, where we teach the women how to make jewelery and then we look to provide a market for them to insure their income. These kind of projects include a wide range of trainings and workshops for women from the Kibera slum. We provide information regarding entrepreneurship, HIV/AIDS, and provide them with vocational training in different fields.

Our most recent project is the ‘Women Power Project’ where young mothers who suffer from long-term unemployment are being trained in baking and confectionary making in addition to entrepreneurship and social media marketing.
