Transformation is most powerful when you get to witness it firsthand.

Sarah's journey with Clean Start Africa is a beautiful testament to the power of second chances, resilience, and unwavering determination. What began as a beneficiary's journey of healing, growth, and empowerment has evolved into a remarkable story of leadership and service.

Today, Sarah is not only thriving in her own life but is also part of the Clean Start Africa team, helping to create opportunities and hope for others walking a similar path. Her story reminds us that when people are given the support, dignity, and opportunity they deserve, they can rise beyond their circumstances and become agents of change in their communities.

As we celebrate 10 years of transforming lives, Sarah stands as a living example of what is possible when restoration meets opportunity.

Here's to journeys of courage, growth, and purpose. Here's to Sarah. 💙

Betty's reflections on being part of Clean Start Africa has been both a learning and grounding experience, where purpose is lived out in real time through every program, outreach, and reintegration story. She notes that the work has deepened her understanding of resilience, especially in witnessing how women and girls rebuild their lives after incarceration, often starting from very difficult circumstances yet still choosing to try again. For her, the journey has also been shaped by the team’s commitment to dignity and second chances, which consistently turns challenges into lessons for improving systems of support. Betty describes the experience as one that has not only strengthened her professional skills, but also reshaped her outlook on justice, community, and what sustainable change truly requires over time.

10 Years of Purpose, Impact and Second Chances

As Clean Start Africa celebrates 10 years of existence, we highlight Teresa Njoroge's reflections on this journey as its Founder and CEO. A journey that has been both deeply personal and profoundly transformative.

As she narrates, ten years ago, she could not have imagined the magnitude of what would emerge from one of the most painful chapters of her life. What began as a desire to ensure that no woman, child, or family would be defined by imprisonment has grown into a movement that has touched thousands of lives across communities. Read on and be part of the next decade of Clean Start Africa's journey.

Hope. Encouragement. Transformation.

We are grateful for a successful prison outreach mission at Kapsabet Women Prison, led by our Kisumu Lead, Fletcher Luzilili, and accompanied by our Program Officer, Beatrice Waiyaki.

Through meaningful conversations, mentorship, and encouragement, we connected with women in custody, reminding them that their current circumstances do not define their future. Every interaction was an opportunity to inspire hope, restore dignity, and reinforce the belief that second chances are possible.

We remain committed to walking alongside justice-impacted women, empowering them with the support, skills, and confidence needed to rebuild their lives and successfully reintegrate into society.

Happy Madaraka Day! 🇰🇪

Today, as we celebrate the freedom, dignity, and self-determination that Madaraka represents, we are reminded that true independence is realized when every individual is given an opportunity to rebuild, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to society.

At Clean Start Africa, we honor the resilience of justice-impacted women, children, and families who continue to overcome barriers and embrace second chances. Their journeys are a powerful reminder that freedom is not only about a nation's sovereignty but also about creating pathways for restoration, inclusion, and hope for all.

As we mark this important day, let us reaffirm our commitment to building a society where every person is treated with dignity, empowered to reach their full potential, and given the opportunity to write a new chapter in their lives.

Happy Madaraka Day from all of us at Clean Start Africa. Together, we are restoring hope, transforming lives, and building a more inclusive Kenya.

Hope is one of the most powerful gifts we can give.

We were honoured to be part of the Malachi Dads Graduation at Industrial Area Prison, where members of our team shared their lived experiences with the graduating fathers.

Through their personal journeys of resilience, restoration, and transformation, they reminded the men that their current circumstances do not define their future. Their stories served as a powerful testament that second chances are possible and that with determination, support, and hope, a new chapter can begin.

We believe that every individual deserves an opportunity to rebuild, reintegrate, and thrive. By sharing lived experiences, we continue to inspire and empower justice-impacted individuals to see beyond incarceration and embrace the possibilities that lie ahead.

Because a sentence should never define a lifetime.

This World Menstrual Hygiene Day, let’s restore dignity one pad at a time.

At Clean Start Africa, we believe every woman deserves care, dignity, and the opportunity to manage her menstrual health safely and confidently.

We are calling on individuals, corporates, partners, and well-wishers to join us in supporting the provision of sanitary wear to women in correctional facilities. Your contribution can help restore hope, protect health, and remind these women that they are seen, valued, and deserving of dignity.

You can support by donating:
• Sanitary pads
• Fabric for reusable pads
• Hygiene products
• Financial contributions towards menstrual care packs

Together, we can break the silence, fight period poverty, and ensure no woman is left behind because of her circumstances.

Join us this World Menstrual Hygiene Day and be part of restoring dignity and hope.
