We joined the Active Citizens Forum, hosted by .center , bringing together government, civil society, researchers, academia and philanthropy to reflect on 10 years of citizen engagement.

The forum explored citizen agency, evidence-based governance, youth participation, behavioural systems mapping and stronger collaboration between citizens and institutions.

A key highlight was the launch of the Behavioral Science for Governance Lab (BeGov Lab), focused on using behavioural science and evidence to strengthen citizen-centred governance.

Meet Apollo Kamau Murigi, one of our Champions of Peace🌍✊🏾

As Country Director of MasterPeace Kenya, Apollo believes that lasting peace starts early—with young people, schools, relationships, and communities.

Since joining MasterPeace in 2022, he has helped create spaces where young people can develop the skills, confidence, and connections to become peacebuilders themselves. From Peace Clubs and life-skills programmes to cross-border collaborations, his work shows that systems change can start with something as simple as children learning to listen, communicate, and resolve conflict.

One lesson that stays with him is the art of "friendraising before fundraising"—because strong relationships are the foundation for lasting change.

For Apollo, MasterPeace is more than an organisation. It is a community of practice, a network, and a family.

International Youth Day gave us a moment to reflect on the issues facing young people and to celebrate their resilience and achievemens. It gave us space to listen, question and speak up about the systems that shape our lives.

As a youth-serving organisation, we were glad to be part of conversations around the National Youth Council, civic participation and electoral reforms, alongside young people and fellow organisations.

The message was clear: young people want a seat at the table, not a seat reserved for applause.

With 26 organisations standing behind the Youth Communiqué, the collective voice is growing louder.

This is not just a conversation. It is a call to action.

We did it!

The Her Voice, Her Power training was a huge success and an important step in addressing violence Against Women and Girls. It empowerd girls and young women to speak up, know their rights, and lead change in their communities.

The training focused on GBV Awareness and survivor support, safe GBV reporting, documentation, and referral pathway system, digital storytelling and community awareness, women and youth rights empowerment and community mobilization, data Collection, and Policy Advocacy.

Through this project, we aim to empower 200 girls with life and leadership skills and train 60 gender champions who will lead conversations, debates, and digital storytelling to raise awareness on GBV.

A big thank you to the Empowerment Fund, , and the European Union (EU) for their continued support. Special appreciation to Haella Foundation for walking this journey with us and supporting young women’s empowerment.

Empowering women to heal, lead, and thrive.

MasterPeace Kenya is implementing Women and Entrepreneurship in Colour IV, with support from the Haella Foundation, to empower women survivors of gender-based violence through self-leadership, mental wellness, and entrepreneurship.

Participants are currently strengthening their confidence and wellbeing as they prepare for the next phase of the project, which will provide entrepreneurship training, mentorship, access to finance through VSLAs, and market linkages to help them build sustainable businesses.

Together, we're creating pathways to resilience, leadership, and economic independence.

This week, we celebrated a journey of growth, reflection, and commitment to community transformation.

Through the academy, these young leaders strengthened their s@ystems thinking, self-awareness, and ability to lead with intention.

This week, we welcomed Cohort 5 of the Nia Upeoni – Kujenga Njia Fellowship Programme for a 2-day in-person induction workshop.

Rooted in systems thinking, reflection, dialogue, and action-based learning, fellows explored complex social challenges, reflected on their leadership journeys, and engaged deeply with the practice of building collective pathways for change.

Drawing from the spirit of Kujenga Njia — “building the road together” the induction created space for courageous conversations, shared learning, and community-rooted leadership across lived experiences and contexts.

This is not leadership for status.
It is leadership grounded in responsibility, practice, and collective action.
