Praisegate children's home caters for former street chidren, orphans and abandoned babies. The center is currently home to 44 children among them 23 boys and 21 girls ranging from infants to teenagers. Praisegate provides rehabilitation and care to children in a homely setup that fosters and provides nourishment for their body and soul. The home started in 1998 as a feeding program where we would

spend time with them at a designated place, Uhuru Park. During this time, we would serve them with hot tea and bread. We would also provide them with soap and unprescribed over the counter medicine for their common ailments. We would then counsel and encourage them to go back to their homes. For the willing ones, we would cater for their transport costs.In December 2001 Praisegate was born after the realization that there was a greater need aside from what we were doing. Because of the relationship we had developed with the street families some of the street mothers gave up their children to the home. The project is supported by religious bodies, corporate firms, friends and well wishers.
