SHAK KIAMBU Community Outreach Clinic – Tomorrow!‼️

In partnership with BethanyKids , SHAK Kiambu invites children, youth, and adults with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus from Kiambu, Murang'a, and Nyeri counties to our Thika Community Outreach Clinic.

Venue: St. Patrick's Catholic, Parish Thika
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Please remember to carry:
1. Your SHIP Passport
2. Any ultrasound reports
3. Any other documents or items you were requested to bring during your previous clinic visit.

Regular follow-up clinics are an important part of staying healthy.

Sunday Reflection: Is Our Church Truly Inclusive?

Today, we reflect on the lessons from the Disability, the Bible and the Church Conference 2026, organized by Hope Mobility Kenya . The conference challenged us to rethink how our churches welcome, include, and empower persons with disabilities.

It was encouraging to see SHAK Kenya, represented by members from its Kiambu and Nairobi chapters, the caregivers and persons with spina bifida, participating in meaningful conversations on faith, dignity, and inclusion.

As we gather for worship today, I invite us all to reflect:

How inclusive is our church?

Inclusion goes beyond inviting someone to attend, it means removing barriers so that everyone can worship, serve, and belong.

For example, a person with spina bifida who uses a wheelchair may need a step-free entrance or ramp, accessible toilets, and enough space to move freely within the church. These are not special privileges; they are reasonable accommodations that enable equal participation.

An inclusive church also provides sign language interpretation for Deaf members, accessible reading materials for people with visual impairments, and opportunities for persons with disabilities to serve in leadership and ministry.

The Church is the body of Christ, and every member matters. May our churches continue to grow into communities where everyone is welcomed, respected, and empowered to use their God-given gifts.
