On Saturday, in partnership with Siasa Place we successfully convened a Youth Engagement Forum in Kipchebor Ward .
The forum brought together 30 young people for a ward-level consultation aimed at strengthening meaningful youth participation in governance and development processes. The engagement provided a platform for young people to discuss issues affecting their lives, explore opportunities for participation in county decision-making, and contribute their views towards youth-responsive planning and budgeting.

Participants were also taken through an overview of the Kericho Youth Development Act, the county budgeting process, and the importance of public participation in ensuring that youth voices are reflected in county priorities and development programmes.

The discussions focused on identifying key priorities, concerns, and recommendations related to the county budget, particularly on matters affecting young people. Participants also highlighted sectors and services they feel require greater attention and investment to better respond to the needs of youth within the county.

The outcomes of the forum will contribute to the broader consolidation of youth priorities and recommendations emerging from ward-level engagements across Kericho County, helping ensure that young people's voices remain at the centre of development conversations.

We appreciate all the young people who participated and shared their perspectives, experiences, and ideas for a more inclusive and responsive future.

Last week, we successfully convened a stakeholders' inception meeting under the project : Building Local Capacity for Stronger Community Response to Minors' Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Ainamoi (Kipchebor Ward), Kericho County.

Supported through the project, the meeting brought together key stakeholders from government departments, community structures, and child protection actors to officially launch the project and strengthen collaboration for its implementation.

The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce the project, share its objectives, and jointly develop a collaborative framework to guide stakeholder engagement, referral pathways, and coordinated responses to SGBV cases involving minors. Participants also discussed their respective roles and commitments in strengthening child protection systems within the community.

This four-month project will utilize a Training of Trainers (TOT) approach, working with Community SGBV Champions drawn from the nine villages of the Nyagacho informal settlements in Kipchebor Ward. The champions will be equipped with knowledge on children's rights, child protection, SGBV prevention and response, safeguarding, confidentiality, and referral mechanisms, enabling them to cascade information and awareness throughout their communities.

We are encouraged by the commitment demonstrated by stakeholders and look forward to working together to strengthen community response, improve reporting and referral pathways, and promote access to justice for children affected by abuse and exploitation.

Protecting children is a shared responsibility, and together we can build safer communities where every child is protected, heard, and able to enjoy their rights free from violence and abuse.

In partnership with Siasa Place we will be holding a Youth Engagement Forum tomorrow in Kipchebor ward under the Strengthening the Power of Youth Voices initiative.

The forum falls under our Inclusive Governance thematic area and will bring together young people from Kipchebor Ward to discuss key challenges affecting youth, identify services and sectors that are underfunded or overlooked, explore priorities for county budgeting on youth matters, and generate practical recommendations to inform future planning and development processes in Kericho County.

The engagement will also provide an opportunity for young people to learn more about the Kericho Youth Development Act and share their perspectives on youth priorities, needs, and aspirations. Through these discussions, young people will contribute valuable recommendations on issues that matter most to them and their communities.

As part of the implementation of our project: Building Local Capacity for Stronger Community Response to Minors' Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Ainamoi (Kipchebor Ward), Kericho County, we conducted courtesy visits to key stakeholders ahead of the project inception meeting.

Supported through the consortium, funded by the European Union, this marks the beginning of a four-month project aimed at strengthening community response to SGBV among minors, improving reporting and referral pathways, and promoting access to justice for children affected by abuse and exploitation.

The project will utilize a Training of Trainers (TOT) approach, working with Community SGBV Champions drawn from the nine villages of the Nyagacho informal settlements in Kipchebor Ward. These champions will be equipped with knowledge on children's rights, child protection, SGBV prevention and response, confidentiality, safeguarding, and referral mechanisms, enabling them to cascade information and awareness throughout their communities.

The courtesy visits provided an opportunity to introduce the project, discuss its objectives, and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders who play a critical role in child protection and SGBV response. We were encouraged by the warm reception, commitment, and willingness of stakeholders to collaborate in strengthening community-based protection systems for minors.

Protecting children is a shared responsibility. Through strong partnerships, community awareness, and effective referral systems, we can help create safer communities where every child is protected, heard, and able to enjoy their rights free from violence, abuse, and exploitation.

Today, we join the world in marking Menstrual Hygiene Day under the theme: Together for a .
Menstrual health is about dignity, education, equality, and well-being. Yet many girls still miss school, suffer in silence, or lack access to safe menstrual products and information because of stigma and poverty.
As an organization, we continue to advocate for open conversations, access to menstrual health education, and supportive communities where every girl can thrive with confidence and dignity.
Periods are normal. Stigma is not.
