๐ฟ Industrial agriculture is a massive energy drain. Or is it? โก
When people think about large-scale farming, they often think about emissions, pollution, and heavy energy consumption.
But what if agriculture could be powered by nature itself?
As we approach World Environment Day, we're proud to show that large-scale agriculture can be part of the climate solution.
At Browns Plantations in Kenya, approximately 60% of our electricity needs are generated through our own renewable energy systems; hydro and solar power.
The remaining 40% comes from Kenya's national grid, one of the most renewable-powered grids in the world.
That means much of the tea we grow, process, and deliver is powered by clean, renewable energy.
And we're aiming even higher.
๐ฏ Our ambition is clear: 100% reliance on company-owned renewable energy by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2040.
Because protecting the environment isn't just about what we produce, it's about how we produce it.
Every ray of sunshine captured.
Every drop of water harnessed.
Every step toward cleaner energy.
Together, they help build a more sustainable future for our business, our communities, and our planet.
๐ฌ What do you think is the next big innovation that could make agriculture even greener?
