It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved colleague, Mr. Samuel Wangila, a Board Member of the Kenya Lifesaving Federation (KLF) and the Chairperson of the Kiambu County Lifesaving Association.
Mr. Wangila passed away yesterday, 3rd March 2026, while on a rescue and recovery mission in the South B area of Nairobi. He tragically lost his life in the line of duty after being electrocuted by a live electric wire that was lying along the river during the operation.
His body is currently lying at Mater Hospital.
Mr. Wangila served with unwavering dedication and courage. For many years, he actively participated in numerous rescue and recovery missions across the country, many of which were conducted jointly with the Kenya Red Cross and KLF. He was deeply passionate about humanitarian relief work and committed to saving lives. His bravery, selflessness, and service to humanity will forever remain in our hearts.
We shall communicate further details regarding the funeral arrangements once consultations with his extended family are concluded.
As a fraternity, we are calling upon all members and well-wishers to stand with the family and the Federation during this difficult time. Contributions to support the funeral arrangements may be sent through the KLF Admin Assistant: Kigen Finn Kip
May the Almighty God, the Master of the Universe, grant his soul eternal rest and comfort his family, friends, and the entire lifesaving fraternity.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Samuel Wangila.
