A strategic opportunity for Kenya’s innovation ecosystem

As part of our engagement with ABIL, E4Impact is supporting the connection between the programme and our community of innovators, entrepreneurs and ecosystem partners. Through this collaboration, we aim to help promising Kenyan organisations access the funding, expertise and international networks needed to bring innovative solutions to market.

In this context, we are pleased to highlight the Africa Business Innovation Lab (ABIL) Open Calls, a valuable opportunity for innovators within our ecosystem to access funding, technical expertise, business support and international networks.

The Open Calls are addressed to Kenyan startups, SMEs, universities and research organisations developing innovative, market-oriented solutions that use Earth Observation data in sectors such as agriculture, climate, energy, health, mining, water and infrastructure.
Selected applicants will benefit from:

• funding of up to EUR 50,000 under ABIL Explore or up to EUR 20,000 under ABIL Invest;
• structured technical mentoring and business coaching for up to 11 months;
• access to African and European investors, partners and innovation networks.

An information webinar will be held on 26 August 2026 at 15:00 EAT to present the funding opportunities, eligibility requirements, application process and selection criteria.

🎉 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉. 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚. 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆.

After nine months of learning, mentorship, resilience, and growth, the AWARE Programme Pitch Competition brought the journey to an unforgettable close with two fierce Battle Royales in Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu.

Every entrepreneur brought their best foot forward. For some, this was their first-ever pitch, their first time in a pitching room, and even their first pitch deck, but they stood up, told their stories, and gave it their all.

And from an incredibly competitive field, six enterprises emerged as winners.

𝐔𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐮:

𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎𝒔 | 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝑩𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝑫𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 | 𝑨𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒂

Congratulations to our winners on being crowned champions of the AWARE Programme!

And to every entrepreneur who stepped onto that stage: you leave with a wealth of knowledge, greater confidence, stronger networks and a business better prepared for growth. To us, you are all true champions.

In Baringo and Elgeyo-Marakwet Counties, land restoration entrepreneurs participating in the Supporting AFR100 programme continue to grow businesses that contribute to restoring degraded landscapes while creating economic opportunities.

Today marked the close of a 3-day bootcamp under the Supporting AFR100 incubator and accelerator programmes, bringing together 40 entrepreneurs.

The bootcamp focused on Business Model Canvas (BMC) and entrepreneurial marketing, equipping participants with practical tools to refine their business models, understand customer needs, identify market opportunities, and position their solutions for growth.

This marks a significant step toward turning restoration ambitions into viable, impact-driven businesses.

After nine months of training, coaching and business growth, the AWARE Programme is entering its final stretch, and it has been an action-packed week.

The cohort wrapped up climate-smart training, strengthening their ability to build resilient, sustainable and competitive agri-food enterprises.

The week also featured enterprise spotlight visits by representatives from the Embassy of Ireland and Africa alongside a delegation associated with Deputy Ambassador of Ireland to Kenya, Evelyn Maris, offering a first-hand look at women-led businesses across the dairy and horticulture value chains.

𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒘𝒂𝒚.

Thirty women entrepreneurs are presenting the businesses they have refined throughout the programme, showcasing their value propositions, market opportunities, climate-smart approaches and growth potential.

As we await the winners, we celebrate an even bigger achievement: stronger, more sustainable and market-ready women-led enterprises ready for their next chapter.

The AWARE Programme is implemented by E4Impact Entrepreneurship Center, Kenya, sponsored by TradeMark Africa and funded by the Embassy of Ireland.
