What is Sustainable Forest Management certification system?
Sustainable Forest and Trees Outside Gazetted Forests Management provides assurance that forests and trees are managed in line with environmental, social and economic requirements, and that forest and tree based products originate from responsibly managed sources.
The Kenya Sustainable Forest Management System, a certification standard in collaboration with KFS and other key stakeholders - which aimed to be endorsed by PEFC, is a national programme that promotes sustainable forest management and trees outside forest through independent third-party certification which is a multi-stakeholder, consensus-based standard setting processes and adapted to local contexts, while meeting nationally agreed sustainability requirements.
