Kakuma READ Community Based Organization In light of this, the global pandemic has surfaced existing gaps between the refugee communities and humanitarian organization.

We're a non-profit & registered community based organization founded in 2020 & operating in Refugee Hosting Areas in Kakuma Municipality in Turkana County Kenya These existing gaps include education, public awareness of COVID-19, and advocacy (e.g. human and refugee rights, female education) for the vulnerable members (e.g. children, girls, elderly, single mothers, and people living with disabilit

ies). As these existing gaps increase, KAKUMA READ RLO would like to be a part of community led response that is critical and within the humanitarian spheres. We know that we can play an important role in helping both refugee and host communities who are impacted by the COVID-19. It is the hope that this strengthens self–reliance and more community-led initiatives that bridges the refugee community and the host community for better integration.

Are you a young African leader (18–35) working in the education sector—whether as a teacher, head teacher, social entrepreneur, edtech innovator, NGO leader, researcher, policymaker, or advocate?

On completion, the participants will gain access to:
