Community-Led Child Protection & Resilience
At REHORI, our Child-Friendly Space (CFS) is evolving beyond a traditional centre into a safe and inclusive space for play, learning, talent development, social cohesion, MHPSS, and child protection. By embracing diversity, we are creating opportunities for children in Kakuma refugee camp to adapt, grow, build confidence, and thrive.
We sincerely appreciate for the valuable technical support and the dedicated REHORI team and volunteers for their commitment to community-led protection and the localization of protection.
We welcome more partners to join us through technical support, resources, mentorship, innovation, and collaboration.

At REHORI, our kitchen garden is more than a source of food—it is a pathway to community resilience, dignity, and self-reliance. We are reducing dependency by creating opportunities for vulnerable women and families to grow vegetables, generate income, and strengthen their livelihoods. Thank you to COHERE for supporting water access at REHORI and to the EKEA Foundation for your generosity. Together, we are advancing locally led protection, women's empowerment, and sustainable solutions in Kakuma and Kalobeyei in line with the Grand Bargain, localization, and the Shirika Plan. Green spaces like ours also contribute to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) by fostering hope, social connection, and purpose. Join us in growing a stronger future—one garden at a time. 🌱 Featured today: fresh okra and murere from our garden.

Every child deserves a safe environment where they can learn, heal, and thrive. At the REHORI Centre, we believe that Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a cornerstone of healthy child development. By nurturing children's emotional well-being, resilience, empathy, and positive relationships, we empower them with the confidence and life skills they need to overcome challenges and build a brighter future.

Through our Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Child Protection Case Management interventions, children receive age-appropriate guidance, psychosocial care, and practical life skills that strengthen their development. We use child-centred approaches that encourage positive behaviour, critical thinking, emotional regulation, and resilience, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The smiles and engagement of the children at the REHORI Centre remind us that investing in children's well-being today creates stronger, safer, and more peaceful communities tomorrow.

We sincerely appreciate all organizations, professionals, volunteers, and community members working tirelessly to protect children and promote quality education and mental well-being. Together, we can expand access to holistic child protection services and ensure that no child is left behind.

REHORI welcomes partnerships with organizations committed to child protection, education, MHPSS, and community resilience. Together, we can create lasting change for refugee and host communities in Kakuma and Kalobeyei.

A warm welcome to Desmond Pag, CEO & Founder of COHERE. Your visit to REHORI was more than a courtesy call—it was a meaningful opportunity to learn from one another, exchange experiences, listen directly to beneficiaries, and strengthen our shared commitment to the localization of protection.

The discussions on direct funding, locally led solutions, and lessons learned reflected the spirit of the Grand Bargain in action and strongly aligned with COHERE's mission of empowering communities closest to the challenges.

On behalf of our women and youth, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to , , , , and everyone who made this visit memorable. Special thanks from the REHORI Women Bakery, Women in Agribusiness, and our Youth groups. We look forward to continued collaboration, stronger partnerships, and creating lasting impact together.

One hand alone cannot solve all community needs, but united minds can design and implement lasting solutions together.
At REHORI RLO, localization goes beyond the Grand Bargain. Through a people-centered and community-led approach, we are addressing protection challenges by linking them with livelihoods as a sustainable pathway to resilience and dignity. Our initiatives empower women, youth, and teenage mothers to regain hope, strengthen their economic independence, and build a brighter future.
Through the REHORI Kitchen Garden Project, we are also contributing to food security, environmental sustainability, and reduced economic dependency among vulnerable communities in Kakuma and Kalobeyei. The impact is visible, and resilience is becoming a reality.
We extend our sincere appreciation to COHERE for the direct support, the IKEA Foundation for its generous contribution, and the entire REHORI team for their technical guidance and commitment to serving teenage mothers and youth.
With increased funding and partnerships, we can reach more vulnerable households and create greater community impact.
