We are proud to be part of the 2026 Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Western Region Show, which kicked off yesterday and has brought together exhibitors, farmers, investors, researchers, learning institutions, agribusiness players, and development partners from across the region.

The exhibition has provided us with a valuable platform to showcase our peanut butter product, an initiative that has significantly contributed to the economic empowerment of women and youth in Kakamega County through value addition, entrepreneurship, and income generation.

Beyond exhibiting our product, the show has offered an opportunity to network, exchange knowledge, and learn from other stakeholders. This annual event continues to serve as an important platform for showcasing innovations in agriculture, trade, technology, manufacturing, and governance, while promoting economic growth, food security, and sustainable development.

We look forward to building new partnerships and exploring innovative solutions that can create lasting impact within our communities.

Today, we joined wananchi, county leaders, and stakeholders at the Public Participation Forum on the Proposed Kakamega County Budget Estimates for FY 2026/2027. The forum provided a vital platform for citizens to voice their priorities, concerns, and expectations regarding the county's development agenda.

Discussions focused on key sectors including health, agriculture, roads, education, water and environment, and youth empowerment. Community members called for greater accountability, transparency, and effective implementation of development projects to ensure public resources deliver meaningful impact.

Public participation remains a cornerstone of inclusive governance, empowering citizens to influence decisions that shape their communities and future development. Together, we continue to champion a county budget that reflects the real needs and aspirations of the people of Kakamega.

As we mark World Environment Day 2026 under the theme, "A Global Call for Climate Action", we are proud to join other organizations across Kakamega County in taking meaningful action for our environment.

On 4th June, we will participate in a tree planting exercise in Kakamega Forest, contributing to ecosystem restoration and environmental conservation. On 5th June, we will join the Pedal for Katch event, promoting cycling as a clean and sustainable mode of transport that helps reduce carbon emissions and environmental pollution.

Together, through climate action, tree planting, and sustainable transport, we can create a healthier and greener future for all.

This week, we conducted a comprehensive training session for our champions and attachees on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and communication.

Through the GBV and SRHR sessions, participants gained knowledge on GBV referral pathways, the survivor-centered approach, root causes and effects of GBV, different contraceptive methods, and the importance of consent and informed decision-making in sexual relationships.

The communication training covered introduction to communication, internal and external communication, digital communication and social media, storytelling, crisis communication, and photography and documentation for projects and events.

These sessions continue to equip young people with practical knowledge and skills, empowering them to become confident advocates and effective communicators who can contribute positively to safer and healthier societies.

We were delighted to host a team from Anglican Development Services yesterday for a courtesy visit to learn more about our work, with a keen interest in the peanut butter value chain.

The engagement provided an important opportunity to share experiences, showcase our ongoing initiatives, and identify shared priorities in economic empowerment, climate action, and gender equality. We also had the chance to introduce our studio initiative, which we hope will become a space for impactful conversations and community storytelling once fully operational.

We appreciate the visit and look forward to continued engagement and possible collaboration in creating sustainable impact within our communities.

This week, we held a two day orientation for our new attachées aimed at introducing them to our organization’s work and values. The sessions covered our organizational background, previously implemented projects, ongoing interventions, and the impact we continue to create within communities.

We also engaged in meaningful discussions on mutual expectations, where we shared what we expect from them during their attachment period, while they also expressed their learning goals and expectations from us. We look forward to a productive journey of learning, growth, and collaboration together.

Behind every number is a story of resilience.

In April, we strengthened communities through economic empowerment, climate action, food and nutrition, and community health initiatives. From peanut butter production to climate-smart farming and survivor-centered support, lives continue to be transformed through practical, community-led solutions.

Creating opportunities. Strengthening resilience. Restoring dignity.

This week, we conducted a two day training for 20 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) on Primary Health Care (PHC). The training focused on strengthening their capacity to deliver services effectively at the community level, with emphasis on professionalism, non discrimination, and strict confidentiality when handling client information.
Key areas covered included proper referral systems and the importance of consistent follow up to ensure continuity of care. Facilitators also guided participants on integrating PHC with Gender Based Violence (GBV) response, highlighting the critical role CHPs play in identifying, responding to, and reporting GBV cases.
CHPs were encouraged to remain vigilant during home visits, actively look out for signs of GBV, and ensure timely reporting and linkage to appropriate support services.
