Meru County has now emerged as Kenya’s HIV epicenter, surpassing the traditionally hard-hit Nyanza region, in what officials are calling an alarming shift in the country’s public health landscape.Speaking in Meru today, Correctional Services Principal Secretary Salome Beacco made the revelation, pointing to a disturbing trend—over 1,000 registered sexual offenders currently held in local correctional facilities, which she linked to the spiraling HIV prevalence in the county.
