The River Yala–Nyando Conservation Water Fund, in collaboration with local communities and county government across Nandi County, is championing the conservation of the Grey Crowned Crane, a treasured species that plays an important role in our natural heritage and wetland ecosystems.

Through community engagement, environmental awareness, and collaborative conservation efforts, we are strengthening local action to protect critical habitats, safeguard biodiversity, and promote peaceful coexistence between people and nature.

By bringing communities and county governments together, we are building a shared responsibility for protecting our wetlands and ensuring that future generations continue to witness the beauty of these magnificent birds.

This Mazingira Day, Climate & Child Initiative (CCI) is taking action for nature at Kingwal Swamp in Nandi County, where we will engage and sensitize local communities on the importance of biodiversity conservation and protecting our natural ecosystems.

Through community awareness and engagement, we aim to highlight the importance of protecting Kingwal Swamp, conserving its unique biodiversity, safeguarding wildlife habitats, and promoting sustainable practices that support both people and nature.

From the iconic sitatunga antelope to the rich wetland biodiversity, Kingwal Swamp reminds us that protecting nature is essential for healthy ecosystems, resilient communities, and a sustainable future for our children.

Day One at the 8th National Conference on Culture and Heritage hosted by KENATCOM was both inspiring and thought-provoking.

The discussions highlighted the powerful connection between culture, heritage, climate action, and the future of our children. Protecting our cultural heritage also means protecting the environment and creating sustainable communities where children can thrive safely and proudly in their identity.
