📍 Lessons from Luanda: Empowering Young Women for Economic Growth in Butere
Today, during my visit to Luanda Town, I interacted with several small business owners and witnessed firsthand how entrepreneurship is transforming lives and driving local economic growth. The vibrant business environment in Luanda demonstrates the power of enterprise in creating jobs, generating income, and strengthening communities.
Inspired by this experience, Empowered Citizens Community-Based Organisation (ECCBO) continues to equip young women in Butere Sub-County, Kakamega County, with entrepreneurial and agro-processing skills aimed at creating sustainable businesses and improving household incomes.
Our goal is to nurture a new generation of agripreneurs who can establish value-addition enterprises and contribute to the growth of Sabatia Shopping Centre, Butere Upper Market, and Butere Lower Market, just as thriving small businesses have done in Luanda.
Economic transformation begins with empowering people with the right skills, knowledge, and opportunities. When young women succeed in business, families prosper, markets grow, and communities develop.
The story of Luanda is a reminder that vibrant local economies are built by hardworking entrepreneurs. We are determined to create the same success story in Butere.
