UKR was honored to join fellow stakeholders in the child welfare space, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Child Care Institutions (CCIs), and government representatives in commemorating the Day of the African Child.

The celebration was filled with inspiring and memorable moments as children took center stage, boldly sharing their voices through creative performances, powerful poems, and uplifting songs. Their messages reminded us of the importance of listening to and empowering children as active participants in shaping their future.

This year's theme, "Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa," highlighted the urgent need to guarantee every child access to clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene services.

In one united voice, stakeholders reaffirmed that every child deserves access to basic human rights, protection, dignity, and opportunities to thrive. Together, we remain committed to creating a future where no child is left behind.

Driven by a childhood dream and a desire to challenge harmful beliefs around disease in his community, Methodius is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at MMUST - Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (Official) .
He describes medical school as demanding yet deeply rewarding.

Aspiring to specialize in General Surgery and Orthopedics, as a UKR University Scholarship Program beneficiary he hopes to one day return to his community to create awareness on preventable and chronic illnesses, and help save lives through sensitization and treatment.
