and a voice for broader intersex inclusion.

Awareness starts with understanding. Intersex people exist, and every child deserves access to accurate, inclusive information that helps them understand themselves and others without fear or shame.

As healthcare providers, we must acknowledge that intersex persons continue to face significant barriers despite growing recognition of their rights. Lack of legal recognition, inadequate data and records, societal stigma, and limited understanding within healthcare settings continue to affect their access to quality healthcare and overall well-being.

We need healthcare workers to be trained on intersex variations, registration and medical record systems to be more inclusive, and healthcare facilities to provide respectful, non-discriminatory services.

Recognition must go beyond policy statements and translate into practical changes within our health systems. Every intersex person deserves to access healthcare with dignity, respect, and without fear of stigma or exclusion. The time to act is now

Advancing SRHR and well-being of intersex persons cannot be left to intersex-led organizations alone. We call upon government institutions, healthcare providers, development partners, civil society organizations, human rights defenders, researchers, and community leaders to take shared responsibility in creating an inclusive and equitable society.

Highlights from yesterday's side event, "From Myths to Rights: Dialogues on Young Intersex Experiences," held during the 9th Reproductive Health Network Kenya Conference.

We were honored to bring together advocates, community members, allies, and stakeholders for a powerful conversation on the realities, challenges, and aspirations of young intersex persons. Through open dialogue, we challenged harmful myths, amplified lived experiences, and reaffirmed the importance of dignity, inclusion, and human rights for all.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and online. Your participation strengthens the movement toward a society where intersex persons are recognized, respected, and protected.

Play with Purpose, Lead with Inclusion!

We are proud to have participated in the Purposeful Play Coach Education Program by Coaches Across Continents (CAC).

Purposeful Play goes beyond games it is a powerful approach that uses sport and play to teach life skills, promote child safeguarding, encourage teamwork, and create inclusive spaces where every child can thrive.

This training strengthened our commitment to ensuring that children, including intersex children, are seen, respected, protected, and fully included in play and learning environments.

When play is purposeful, it becomes a tool for education, dignity, and social change.

Healthcare providers play a critical role in ensuring intersex patients receive non-discriminatory, respectful, and rights-based care.

We recently held a Sensitization Workshop on Intersex Persons in Kenya, bringing together healthcare providers from Kajiado-North to strengthen understanding and improve the quality of care for intersex patients.

One of the key focus was unpacking how cultural, religious, and personal beliefs can influence clinical decisions and interactions as well as how providers can consciously navigate these biases to ensure they do not stand in the way of ethical, inclusive, and patient-centered service delivery.

Building a healthcare system where intersex persons are treated with dignity starts with these intentional shifts.
