Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the virtue of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and encouraged Muslims to increase in good deeds during this time. According to authentic hadiths, here are some of the recommended actions:

1. Increase in Good Deeds
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
> โ€œThere are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.โ€
(Bukhari)

2. Fasting
It is recommended to fast during the first nine days, especially on the Day of Arafah (9th Dhul-Hijjah) for non-pilgrims.

> โ€œFasting the day of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.โ€
(Muslim)

3. Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah)
Engage in Takbeer, Tahleel, Tahmeed, and Tasbeeh:

Takbeer: Allahu Akbar
Tahleel: La ilaha illallah
Tahmeed: Alhamdulillah
Tasbeeh: Subhanallah

4. Prayers and Qurโ€™an
Perform the five daily prayers on time, increase voluntary prayers, and read Qurโ€™an.

5. Charity and Good Deeds
Give in charity, help others, uphold ties of kinship, and show good character.

6. Udhiyah (Sacrifice)
Those who intend to offer a sacrifice should not cut their hair or nails from the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah until after the sacrifice is done.
> โ€œWhen the ten days start and one of you intends to offer a sacrifice, let him not touch his hair or nails.โ€
(Muslim)

7. Hajj and Umrah (for those able)
Performing Hajj or Umrah during this time is among the greatest deeds.
