Saen Girls Initiative as young Girls- led organization was honoured to be part of the stakeholder validation meeting for the Draft Bill on Ethnic Minorities and Marginalised Communities. We are grateful to Samburu Women Trust for the opportunity to contribute our voices and perspectives to a process that has a direct impact on the rights, recognition, and inclusion of our communities. ✊🏾🌎

Stakeholders examined how the proposed law can better respond to the rights, needs, and lived realities of ethnic minorities, Indigenous Peoples, and marginalised communities.

Key discussions focused on Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), definitions of Indigenous Peoples and marginalised communities, implementation mechanisms, access to remedies, and alignment with existing legal and policy frameworks.

As a follow-up, stakeholders agreed to convene a two-day caucus bringing together Indigenous Peoples and marginalised communities to discuss key concerns, agree on recommendations, and prepare and submit a memorandum to ensure that our voices and priorities are reflected in the Bill.

Proud of myself for being at these tables, speaking about the issues affecting women and advocating for direct funding that allows women to prioritize and address the issues that matter most to them.

Women should not only be seen as beneficiaries we should also have a voice and decision-making power over how resources are designed, allocated, and used to support our communities.

Honored to attend the global summit, UNCCD COP17, in Mongolia.

Under the powerful theme, “Restoring Land. Restoring Hope,” this is a time to turn global ambition into meaningful action on the ground. The world’s attention has turned to the critical challenges of land degradation, drought resilience, and the protection and restoration of global rangelands.

As young Indigenous people, we proudly raise our voices for pastoralist communities. We stand on the knowledge and wisdom of our elders while taking our rightful place in shaping decisions that affect our lives, our lands, and our future.

Seeing our Indigenous leaders Jane Meriwas Hsc occupy and contribute to these important global spaces inspires us as young Indigenous people to follow in their footsteps. It motivates us to continue working in our communities, volunteering, learning, and contributing to positive change.

We are the leaders of today and tomorrow. By learning from those who came before us and taking action in our communities, we can create meaningful change and celebrate the progress we achieve together. Samburu Women Trust.

Honored to attend the 12th Annual National Indigenous Women Conference held in Isiolo County from 5th to 9th.

Yesterday, we also had the privilege of celebrating the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples as young Indigenous women. It was a powerful moment to reflect on who we are, our identity, and the important role we play in shaping our communities and future.

I was honored to present the voice of young women and girls, highlighting the challenges and issues affecting us as young Indigenous women.

As young Indigenous women and girls, we raise our voices and stand firm in our truth:

Nothing about young Indigenous women and girls without our voices.
No sustainable future without the leadership of Indigenous women and youth.

We are not just part of the story we are leading it. ✨

The Naapu Indigenous Women-Led Fund was successfully launched yesterday at the Nasaruni Indigenous Women Hub, SWT Main Office in Nturukuma Center. It was a significant and inspiring moment that highlighted the strength, leadership, and vision of Indigenous women working to transform their communities.
As a girls-led organization, we are very happy and proud to have been part of this important launch. It was encouraging to witness such a powerful initiative that is dedicated to uplifting and supporting Indigenous women and girls.
We especially appreciate Jane Meriwas Hsc for the recognition given to Indigenous adolescent girls. Being acknowledged and included in such spaces reminds us that our voices matter and that we are part of shaping a better and more equitable future for our communities. As Indigenous adolescent girls, we feel deeply happy and proud to be part of this powerful moment. Being recognized, seen, and included in this journey means so much to us. It reminds us that our voices matter, our dreams are valid, and our leadership is valued.

This is not just history being made it is hope being planted in our hearts. Thank you Jane Meriwas Hsc for creating space where Indigenous girls and women are not only included, but leading and transforming our own futures. Together, we rise.
