The conversation centred on collaboration, trust, and shared responsibility for peace and security in Isiolo and its neighbouring counties. The Isiolo CSIC and SCSIC expressed commitment to closely work with RPPL, local leaders, and security actors to enhance peace, justice, and resilience across Isiolo County.

The key action plans from the meeting included: 1) Joint plans between RPPL and Security actors; 2) Regular follow-up meetings for accountability; and 3) Strengthened community engagement and inclusion.

RPPL, through the Usalama Ni Uaminifu project funded by The GCERF, supported the Isiolo County Engagement Forum (CEF) quarterly meeting, which brought together stakeholders to review progress, tackle emerging issues, and agree on joint solutions to governance, security, and political challenges. Participants recommended engaging the new county security leadership, following the recent leadership changes, to boost coordination and better respond to the evolving security needs.

On 4th August 2025, the Ewaso Camel Caravan officially set off from Nkutuk eNg'irion, Samburu County under the theme:
“Advancing Pastoralism, Peace and Rangelands Management for a Sustainable Future.”
This year, over 200 participants from across the Ewaso Basin joined the journey.

🌱 Along the route, communities at stop-over points rolled up their sleeves for rangeland rehabilitation — building semi-circular bunds to restore degraded lands. Every action was a step towards a greener, healthier future.

🎥 In the evenings, we screened past documentaries, sparking meaningful conversations on natural resource management and peaceful coexistence among pastoral communities.

🤝 Pastoralists from the upper, middle, and lower Ewaso Ng’iro basin, together with WRUAs, engaged in crucial dialogues on resource sharing, conflict resolution, and peace building.

🍲 The Indigenous Food Festival was a true feast for the senses — showcasing traditional food systems, celebrating cultural heritage, and promoting food sovereignty through vibrant exchanges of knowledge.

🏞 On the final day at Westgate Conservancy, we heard powerful speeches from key stakeholders and policymakers, all advocating for the restoration and protection of the Ewaso Ng’iro ecosystem.

🖋 Highlight of the year: The signing of the Westgate Declaration — a united commitment from communities and partners for a sustainable and thriving ecosystem.

Here’s to the spirit of resilience, unity, and hope that carried us through the 6-day journey. ✨ Weltfriedensdienst
