THE PRIDE OF SAMBURU
For generations, the lion was a symbol of bravery among Samburu warriors. Today, the story is changing~from protecting our communities from lions to protecting lions alongside our communities.
For the very first time, Pride of Samburu was screened in Samburu for the First time, bringing to our landscape a powerful story of Jeneria Lekilelei, the Samburu community, and the journey toward coexistence with lions.
Westgate Conservancy, joined to celebrate the Premier of our people, culture, land, and the future we build together.
It was a moment to celebrate the Samburu voice in conservation and inspire a new generation to see wildlife not only as part of our heritage, but as part of our future.

A journey of hope unfolds here in Westgate Conservancy-a story of a community that chose to believe in its Land, even when the land seemed to have little left to give.
Every bund we dig reduces surface runoff on rainy season/holds some water that enabling land to regenerate or grass to grow and carries a little hope during this harsh season. And every Elephant feeding here reminds us why the work matters.
We dig for tomorrow. And Now, nature is beginning to answer.

WOMEN LEADING CONSERVATION.
“Conservation goes beyond protecting wildlife. It is about Healthy Land. Healthy People. Healthy Wildlife.”by Damaris Lekiluai
At Westgate Conservancy, we appreciate the efforts of our partners;Grevy's Zebra Trust for bringing women on board through the "Women on Wheels for One Health Outreach Programme"
The programme is empowering women to take an active role in conservation, land restoration, and community well-being, recognising the important role women play in building resilient communities and healthy landscapes.
Through targeted meetings with key conservancy leaders and local communities, the programme creates opportunities to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and promote sustainable conservation practices.

Westgate Conservancy hosted a community team from areas bordering Sibiloi National Park for a learning exchange on practical conservation approaches.

The visit focused on conservation models, how land restoration can improve livelihoods by restoring productive rangelands, supporting sustainable enterprises, strengthening local commerce, and creating opportunities through nature-based tourism.

By sharing experiences and locally driven solutions, communities can learn from one another and build a future where healthy landscapes support thriving livelihoods.

More than a testimony — this is a story of transformation.

What began as a small grass plot for the Naretu Women Group in Kiltamany is now feeding 140 lactating cows for 1 week for the first time. After a successful harvest, many bales of grass are ready for sale, turning restoration into livelihood, resilience, and hope for the future.
