What began as a small grass plot for the Naretu Women in Kiltamany is now feeding 140 cows for the first time. After a successful harvest, many bales of grass are ready for sale, turning restoration into livelihood, resilience, and hope for the future.

CROSS LANDSCAPE LEARNING VISIT 2026.
Today the learning visit to Westgate conservancy in Samburu Isiolo Conservation Area(SICA). The visit was replica to previous visit to Baringo landscape under UNDP SGP The GEF small grants. The visit bring together participants from four different counties Baringo. Mombasa, Isiolo and Samburu with support of their strategic partners, among them PACIDA, MID-P and others.
The grantees presented was Westgate and SAFE Samburu team. The director SNR was another signatories leading the team.
Through one of our successful initiatives, the Rangelands Women Champions of Naisunyai Area. This inspiring project demonstrates how women are leading restoration efforts while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for their communities.
Participants gained hands-on experience in grass harvesting and baling, showcasing the role of sustainable rangeland management in restoring degraded landscapes and supporting pastoral livelihoods.
The Day concluded by the inspiring story of S.A.F.E Samburu, where participatory theatre and documentary storytelling are empowering communities to preserve indigenous knowledge and address social and environmental challenges.
Together, we continue demonstrating that strong partnerships and empower communities.

Today, Westgate Community Conservancy proudly joined our conservation partners at Samburu National Reserve to commemorate World Ranger Day 2026.

Together with Nasuulu Conservancy,Save the Elephants, and Luigi Footprints Foundation, we honored the brave rangers whose courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment protect our wildlife, landscapes, and communities every day.

This celebration reaffirmed that lasting conservation is built on strong partnerships and the dedication of those on the frontlines.

To all our rangers, thank you for your selfless service and for safeguarding Kenya's natural heritage for future generations.

Today, Westgate Community Conservancy was honoured to host a delegation from Ngilai Conservancy for a benchmarking visit under the Grasslands Women initiative.
As a leading example in community-led conservation, Westgate proudly shared its successful approaches to Land restoration,Livestock bunching, sustainable land management, community participation, and women-led conservation initiatives. The visit provided a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge, inspiring innovation, and strengthening partnerships that promote healthy ecosystems and resilient livelihoods.
We are proud to serve as a learning destination where practical conservation solutions are shared, empowering other conservancies to adapt and implement best practices within their own landscapes.
Together, we continue to demonstrate that collaboration, community leadership, and shared knowledge are the foundation of sustainable conservation.

Learning together. Growing together.
Today, we had the privilege of hosting a benchmarking visit from Kalepo Community Conservancy at Westgate Community Conservancy Headquarters.
The session provided an opportunity to share our experiences and best practices in livestock bunching, land restoration, and community-based tourism initiatives. Through open discussions and field learning, we exchanged ideas on sustainable conservation approaches that restore landscapes, strengthen livelihoods, and promote resilient communities.
Conservation thrives through collaboration. By learning from one another, we build stronger conservancies and a healthier future for both people and nature.
Thank you, Kalepo Community Conservancy , for choosing to learn and share with us. We look forward to continued collaboration in advancing community-led conservation across Northern Kenya.

From Conflict to Opportunity. From Warriors to Changemakers.
Westgate Community Conservancy joined neighbouring conservancies in a transformative Peace Forum facilitated by the Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC), bringing together youth and warriors to strengthen Peaceful coexistence and address inter-community conflicts through dialogue.
The forum also highlighted alternative and sustainable livelihoods, encouraging warriors to embrace entrepreneurship by starting small businesses and other income-generating activities. By creating economic opportunities, communities can reduce conflict, build resilience, and secure a brighter future for the next generation.
One of the most inspiring moments of the forum was hearing powerful testimonies from experienced warriors who had successfully transformed their lives through alternative livelihoods. Participants also learned from the remarkable journey of the Namayana Boy Group of Lkalkaloi, whose success story demonstrated that peace, entrepreneurship, and hard work can create lasting change. Their experiences inspired many young warriors to embrace new opportunities, build sustainable businesses, and become ambassadors of peace within their communities.
Peace is more than the absence of conflict—it's the presence of opportunity, unity, and hope.
Together, we are building peaceful communities where people and nature thrive.
