🌱♻️ From Waste to Wealth! Women of LER-BER CBO are reusing waste bags to grow flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees. We culture Black Soldier fly feeding on organic household waste. This simple innovation reduces plastic pollution, improves household nutrition, beautifies our community, and creates income opportunities for women and youth, most importantly reducing the green house gass emotions in the land field, reducing bad smell, improved health.💚🌍
SDGs touched: SDG 1 No Poverty | SDG 2 Zero Hunger | SDG 5 Gender Equality | SDG 8 Decent Work | SDG 11 Sustainable Cities | SDG 12 Responsible Consumption | SDG 13 Climate Action | SDG 15 Life on Land.

On 8th May, LER-BER CBO proudly joined Kenya Red Cross Society in World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day celebrations at Rodi Kopany. Together, we carried out a market clean-up to promote a healthier and cleaner environment, followed by a tree-planting exercise at Rodi Primary School.
This meaningful day highlighted the power of community action, environmental stewardship, and humanitarian service.

Today I had the privilege of leading the amazing ladies of LER-BER CBO on a benchmarking and learning visit to International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Mbita.
The visit focused on learning practical skills on how to transform readily available organic waste into value through Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming. This experience is a big step in empowering women with sustainable solutions that reduce waste, protect our environment, and create new income opportunities for our community.
From waste to wealth — LER-BER CBO continues to champion sustainable waste management and green livelihoods in Homa Bay. ♻️🐛🌍
