This is how you celebrate, Kenyan style, when your daughter gets a scholarship to go to high school. If these girls do well, they can then go on to university and become whatever they choose. Girls who don’t get to go to high school have very limited options. No wonder these mamas are singing, dancing, ululating and concluding with aloud Amen.

Awach Primary school community sees a miracle happening before their eyes as construction of four new classrooms leaps ahead. This week workers are installing support timbers that soon will be covered by durable, sheet metal roofing. The hammering disturbs no one! Outside under the trees, learning continues with higher expectation than ever. Students in grades 1-2-3-4 can’t wait to move their desks into new classrooms being built through a generous renovation grant. KSHP is dedicated to empowering lives through education.

Classroom walls at Awach Primary School are rising - and the community cannot contain its excitement. Onlookers gather daily to watch masons lay new courses of stone for the four classrooms being built this year. A generous donor grant has awakened hope and renewal in an impoverished community that sees this school giving its children a stronger future. KSHP is at work empowering lives through education.

We have broken ground for a new school! Students at Awach Primary had to move outside under the trees last February after government officials condemned their school. The community’s dream to rebuild was doomed by poverty – until KSHP received a donor’s generous grant. We’re pleased to announce the launch of Phase One of a two-year building project. Community members volunteered labor to dig the foundation and lay the slab for the four classrooms being built this year. KSHP Manager, Ms. Date, ceremoniously laid the first stone. Students in grades 1-2-3-4 will soon have a new home – to strengthen their lives through education. Stay tuned for progress updates!

Seven young Kendu Bay scholars entered high school last month, thanks to KSHP sponsors. They will devote sixteen hours a day to classwork - and count themselves blessed. Education is their hope and their path out of poverty. Congratulations and best wishes to all!

They did it! All ten KSHP sponsored students finished high school among Kenya’s Top Scholars. Now these gifted children of subsistence farmers are headed to university in September on full government tuition. Zefenath Owili and Fred Omondi scored an overall A- on their KCSE exams. Sponsors change lives! Their help removes the barriers that prevent disadvantaged children from getting the high school education they deserve. We urgently seek sponsors for three of our top grade 8 girls who need assistance to start high school next month. Join with friends to sponsor a child who will build on your gift. The world needs good acts and these girls need you! Visit www.KenyaSelfHelp.org to enroll.
