This week Governor Gladys Wanga welcomed a distinguished high level team of Slovenian apiculture experts, led by Prof. Sonja Šibila, to Homabay County. This visit represents a significant step forward in the vibrant partnership between potential and Slovenia, which was strengthened last year during the official visit of Slovenian President Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar.
During that visit, the President joined Governor Wanga in touring the Wire Forest Management Association's beekeeping operations in Rachuonyo South, laying the groundwork for collaborative efforts to scale up commercial honey production and apiculture.
The Slovenian specialists' technical expertise is invaluable as we harness the immense commercial opportunities in beekeeping here in Homabay, generating sustainable employment, elevating household incomes and sparking genuine economic transformation for our communities.
What truly elevates this partnership is Governor Gladys Wanga's own exceptional ability to connect on the global stage. Among Kenya's leaders, she stands out for her fluent, eloquent and crystal clear command of English. She speaks with such clarity, confidence and precision that even mzungu (foreign investors, donors, international partners and development experts) can listen and fully grasp her vision without any misunderstanding or need for translation. Her articulate delivery powerfully champions initiatives like our apiculture project, drawing in the investment, expertise and support required to deliver real, lasting development and prosperity to Homabay's people. Her voice cuts through barriers and opens doors that might otherwise remain closed.
We love you mama Nyawang'aya and will elect you two more terms. She is simply the best thing that ever happened to Homabay.
