We are deeply horrified and heartbroken by the brutal r**e and murder of a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Suba North, Homa Bay County. The heinous act of defilement, followed by unimaginable violence against her body, is not only an attack on her but on the dignity and safety of all children and women in our community.
As a feminist organization rooted in Homa Bay, we strongly condemn this barbaric act. We stand in solidarity with the family, classmates, and community of the young girl whose life was so cruelly cut short.
We call upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and all relevant state agencies to ensure a swift, thorough, and transparent investigation; and to bring the perpetrators to justice without delay. Justice delayed is justice denied.
This case underscores the urgent need to strengthen protection systems for children, improve community vigilance, and invest in comprehensive programs to end gender-based violence in Homa Bay and across Kenya.
No child should ever face violence when walking to or from school. No parent should ever bury their daughter under such horrific circumstances.
We demand justice for this young girl. We demand safety for all our children. We demand an end to gender-based violence.
