Out of the Shadows
At the World Health Assembly today, Together for Girls, host of the Brave Movement, launched the 2026 Out of the Shadows Index. This global benchmark assesses how 60 countries – home to 83% of the world’s children – are preventing and responding to sexual violence against children and adolescents.

Researched and developed by Economist Impact, the Index doesn’t measure the prevalence of violence – rather, it evaluates countries on whether they have the minimum laws, policies, programs, and services governments need to end childhood sexual violence across four areas: Governance and accountability, prevention, healing, and justice.

A global benchmark to
protect children and adolescents

1 in 5 girls and 1 in 7 boys experience some form of sexual violence before their 18th birthday
We are measuring progress towards a world free of childhood sexual violence

CAHHED was part of Africans Rising, in collaboration with Tribeless Youth, recently concluded a powerful and in-depth engagement with Borderless Africans in Nakuru on what a truly Borderless Africa means. The Nakuru Canvas created a space for meaningful dialogue, sparking critical reflections on the role of citizens in shaping the continent’s future.
Together, we explored important questions: Who really benefits from borders? Who is unfairly disadvantaged by them? And what bold, practical actions can we take to move closer to African unity?
