DIFFERENT ROOTS. ONE HUMANITY.*

Being Pokomo, Orma, Wardei, Munyoyaya, or Mijikenda is not the problem. Ethnicity is our beauty, our culture, our identity.

The problem is when politicians use our ethnicity to divide us. When hate speech online turns our differences into weapons. When competition for land and resources makes us forget we are brothers and sisters.

Ethnic differences do NOT automatically cause conflict. Bad leadership, injustice, and hate DO.

In Tana River, we can be different and still live together. We have done it before. We can do it again.

*WHAT DO YOU THINK? What turns ethnic differences into conflict?*

Let's talk in the comments. Your idea can build peace.

Let's Talk. Let's Listen. Let's Build Peace Together.

PEACE IS NOT WEAKNESS, IT IS STRENGTH.*

It takes a strong man to forgive.
It takes a strong woman to stop hate speech.
It takes a strong youth to say NO to violence.

In Tana River, real warriors are those who protect peace, not those who start conflict.

Let's be strong for our county. Let's be strong for our children.

TUSIMAMIE AMANI PAMOJA - One Field, One People, One Peace.*

In Tana River, our strength is in our diversity. We are Pokomo, Orma, Wardei, farmers and herders - but our future is one.

Today we stand together at our shared river, choosing to hold each other's hands, not weapons. Choosing to share the field, not fight over it.

This is the spirit of TanAfrik Initiative . We build peace from the ground up.

TanAfrik Initiative organised a live radio talkshow at Vox Radio, MINJILA

The purpose of this show is to sensitize our youth, women and communities of Tana River on how to use social media as a powerful TOOL FOR PEACE, not a weapon for conflict.

In a time when one fake post can burn villages, we want to strengthen our community to:
1. Verify information before sharing
2. Stop hate speech and clan insults online
3. Use Facebook, TikTok & WhatsApp to promote unity, early warning and brotherhood.

We thank Vox Radio for partnering with us and the community for listening and calling in.

let's build peace together. One Field, One People, One Peace!

On 19th August 2026, TanAfrik Initiative successfully convened a powerful Intercommunity Dialogue at Bangale, Tana North Sub-County.

The forum brought together elders, women leaders, youth, religious leaders, and local administration from diverse communities living in Bangale and its environs to have an honest and open conversation on peace, trust, and coexistence.

For years, mistrust and conflict have divided our people. Yesterday, we chose dialogue over division. Participants shared their pain, their fears, and their hopes - and together agreed that peace is not given, it is built by all of us.

Key discussions focused on:
1. Community-led peace practices and early warning.
2. The role of elders and women in resolving conflicts.
3. How youth can become ambassadors of peace instead of being used for violence.
4. Strengthening intercommunity collaboration for sustainable peace and development.

This dialogue is part of our ongoing peacebuilding program funded by the European Union through FEMNET, SDGs Kenya Forum and WECF, aimed at promoting community-owned solutions for lasting peace in Tana River County.

We sincerely thank the Bangale community for turning up in large numbers, for speaking with courage, and for committing to be peace champions in your villages.

Because when communities talk, conflict ends. When we listen to each other, we build unity.

Peace begins with us.

Yesterday, 19th August 2026 we held a meeting at the DCC Office with our Area Chief of Madogo and the FKF Tana River County to discuss the upcoming Peace Tournament.

Initially, we planned to select only the top four FKF-registered teams. However, after receiving complains from other teams, we agreed to expand the tournament.

We will now select the top eight teams from last year Fkf Premier League eight from Madogo and eight from Mororo. Any team that finished among the top eight is eligible to participate.

We are now waiting for the FKF Chairman to provide more information about the fixtures and preparations.

Let us all work together to make this a successful Peace Tournament.

Women participated in intercommunity dialogue in madogo because peace starts when we listen to each other. When women from different communities come together, we build bridges, not walls. Our strength as TanAfrik Initiative is in unity and our future is safer when we choose dialogue over division
