Silence should never protect violence.

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) affects individuals, families and communities. We all have a role to play in preventing violence, supporting survivors and speaking up when something is not right.

If you witness or experience SGBV, don’t stay silent. Report it, seek help and connect survivors to the right support services. Reporting can be the first step towards safety, justice and healing.

Let’s build communities where everyone feels safe, respected and heard.

Speak up. Report violence. Support survivors. End SGBV.

On 21st September 2026,TanAfrik Initiative joined the vibrant community of Chara at Chamwanamuma Village in the Lower Delta of Tana River County to commemorate the International Day of Peace.

It was more than just a celebration, it was a day of coming together, sharing experiences, celebrating our diversity and strengthening the bonds that hold our communities together. Through various activities, community members had the opportunity to connect, engage, have fun and reflect on what peace truly means to us.

From meaningful conversations to moments of joy and togetherness, the day reminded us that peace is not something we simply wish for — it is something we build, nurture and protect together.

A peaceful community starts with each one of us. Let’s continue choosing dialogue over division, unity over conflict and hope over fear.

Together, we can build a more peaceful and inclusive Tana River.
