TRPRD is a community-based organization which is non-political, non-racial, non-religion, and non-partisan. It was formed in April 2001 after violent conflict erupted in Tana River District more than at any other time in its history. It was formed to harmonize peaceful co-existence between different communities in the Tana River District, Kenya. TRPRD is also aimed at establishing, enhancing, and

empowering community participation and peace building as well as enhancing community awareness on the proper utilization of existing resources.
