Mwavuli Kagwe has successfully completed the first section of the Mwavuli Curriculum on Individual Advancement.
Through interactive discussions and reflection, participants explored the connection between the pillars of emotional intelligence and how they influence the way we respond to conflict. As they unpacked different types of conflict, many were surprised to discover that intrapersonal conflict; the struggles we experience within ourselves is a real and significant form of conflict.
The concepts of the "silent trap" and the "silent voice" as root causes of conflict particularly resonated with the young women, majority sharing that they choose silence for peace often leaving disagreements unresolved.
The session was a powerful reminder that conflict is a normal part of human interactions. When addressed constructively, it becomes an opportunity for self-awareness, growth, and stronger relationships. It also builds self-advocacy skills, empowering young women to communicate their needs, interests and opinions, set boundaries, and confidently make decisions that support their wellbeing and aspirations.
At Mwavuli, we continue to create safe spaces where young women can build the skils needed to navigate challenges, advocate for themselves, and thrive.
We ended the session with a powerful quote that spoke to the realities of many young women in the room.
" *Do not settle for a quiet room if it means living with a heavy heart."*
