Smiles all around the centre 💛

Every smile you see here is made possible by the kindness and support of people who choose to stand with us. At Restart Africa, we work to provide children and young people with care, stability, education, and opportunities to grow in a safe and supportive environment.

If you would like to support our work, please consider donating. Even £5, the price of a cup of coffee, can go towards meals, school supplies, daily care, and creating moments like these for the young people we support.

One of our kids at Restart is now pursuing a career in hospitality, and honestly, we're not surprised.

After finishing school, he'd quietly make his way to the kitchen and help our staff out, baking breakfast buns for the other children. Nobody asked him to. That was just him.

That kind of heart doesn't go unnoticed. We always knew he had something special, and now he's out here doing exactly what he was made to do.

We're so proud of you. Keep going. 🍽️❤️

Meet one of our recent volunteers, Emily Vink.

Emily recently volunteered at Restart Africa, and the impact she left on the children was truly special. In a recent interview with one of our children, who is also a Deputy Speaker in the Kenya Children’s Assembly, Nakuru County, Emily shared her experience at Restart.

From Chapati days in the kitchen, swimming trips, bracelet making, and playing games together, Emily brought so much joy and energy during her time with us. Her kindness, presence, and connection with the children will not be forgotten.

What made her stay even more special was celebrating her birthday at Restart, a moment we were honoured to share with her.

At Restart Africa, volunteers take part in many activities that directly support and encourage the children. Whether it’s visiting them at school, playing instruments together, helping in the kitchen, or simply spending quality time with them, every moment makes a difference.

Our volunteers are deeply appreciated and continue to leave a lasting impact on the children at the centre. Whatever your background or experience, there is a place for you here.

April was a busy and meaningful month at Restart Africa. It was a time of transitions as the first term ended, the children enjoyed their break at the centre, and then slowly returned to school routines.

It was also a month where we saw our children step into new opportunities, celebrate achievements, and continue growing in different ways.

When the school term wrapped up in March, the kids headed back to the centre ready for a breather. The place came alive almost instantly. Between games and just having the space to be kids again, there was never a dull moment.

Easter was a real highlight for us. We spent the whole break together, sharing meals, hunting for eggs, and spending a full day out in the field. Having that time to connect, especially with Mary Coulson there, made everything special.

We also had a fantastic visit from the students at Shrewsbury School. They organized an incredible trip to Crescent Island, where the kids got to see giraffes and ostriches up close and head out on a boat ride. Back at the centre, they kept the energy high by putting together a talent show and leading plenty of games out on the field.

Our volunteers kept the momentum going, too. Whether it was movie nights, baking pizza, or pancake and chapati making sessions, they made sure every day was packed with something fun.
