One of our successful grant applicants - The Zen Pads Initiative!

A fantastic organisation advocating for sustainable period products, and tackling period poverty in Mukuru kwa Njenga slum, Kenya. We were honoured to help their amazing work, by donating a sum of £2465. This went directly to purchasing reusable pads, sanitary and hygiene items, and organising health and wellness talks for young adults.

They created “Keeping A Girl In School” which was a community mentorship and menstrual health project. They reached 140 girls and 50 boys! The sessions covered a range of topics such as; mental health, GBV, feminine hygiene, and menstruation.

“Girls received reusable pad sets, period panties and bath soap, while boys received hygiene support including boxers, toothbrushes and toothpaste. The reusable pads and panties were particularly important because they provide girls with a menstrual management option that can continue to be used beyond the project period (4 years), while the sessions helped participants understand how to care and use them.”

Zen Pads were also able to establish a community pad bank, where girls and women can go to for further support.

This is huge news, and we are so proud to have been able to help. Period poverty is such an important issue that needs addressing, to many young girls are missing school. Sessions and organisations like these are vital for support and understanding. A huge well done and thanks to The Zen Pads Initiative for your incredible work.♥️

Neil’s final stop of his South America tour was Ecuador! 🇪🇨

Neil travelled to Quito, and a short day trip to the fantastic Galápagos Islands. Neil said “Well, what an incredible place. A laid back paradise. The town is lively with excellent bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. The landscape is volcanic/almost prehistoric. It is beautiful. Iguanas, sea lions, so many birds, crabs. Had an amazing trip out on a boat and did nature walks and lots of incredible snorkeling. Charlotte Hope (my snorkel buddy) would have loved it. CEH19....Charlotte Elizabeth Hope..Forever 19. Travelling with you ‘Baby girl.’ “

He then visited a bit more of Quito, and was able to stand on either side of the Equator!🌎

Happy you’re back safe and sound, we hope you had an amazing time! Neil’s aim was to hopefully donate a bit of Lottie’s Way funds in Quito and Colombia, but was unfortunately unsuccessful, safety first!

Charlotte loved to travel and wanted to visit the world, unfortunately she never got the chance. She would be so proud of you, and is with you every step of the way!🤍

Lottie’s Way / TFTAAB has reached the gorgeous Dominican Republic!🇩🇴

Thank you to Kinaz, Irene and Nikita, who visited Mi Casita Linda, an orphanage home, most of the children are from Haiti 🇭🇹 The home was opened and found by a fantastic lady on her own, called Rosa 20 years ago. She is now 90, Irene and family were able to meet her and her daughter, as well as all the lovely children during their trip!

We hope they love their England football shirts! ⚽️

Part two of Neil’s travels! He is now in Colombia, or was (as he is on route to Ecuador as we speak!)🇨🇴🇪🇨🌎

After our last post, he travelled from Mexico City to Colombia, starting from Cartagena, to Medellin and then to Bogotá which is the capital city of Colombia. During his stay in Bogotá, there was a 7.4 earthquake - he is luckily safe and okay, but noted a very scary experience, especially on the 28th floor!!

Neil is now on route to Ecuador, for the amazing Galápagos Islands!🫶🏼

Throwback to our Golf Day fundraiser last September! It was an incredible day, which we are excited to have brought back for this September!!🏌️⛳️

But, we are still on the lookout for more teams, or individual entries, deadline is the 16th August to sign up, as we have to let the venue know by 1st September if we have enough people to go ahead!

We wanted to take the time to say a huge shoutout to our friends at The Elephant and Castle in Shawbury. We have just collected £230 from the fundraising pot, which is amazing.

Massive thank you to Alan and the whole team, for your continued support and donations. You’re also able to buy one of our t-shirts from the pub too with a minimum donation of £15!

Charlotte was a much loved member of the pub family, and is missed by all💛

Statistics are important because they help us understand the scale of the problem, but sometimes people forget that behind every number is a real person with a life. Someone’s family member, a friend, their partner, someone who had a future and dreams💔

August is National Road Victim Month, we remember Charlotte, along with every life lost and every person whose life has been changed forever by a road traffic collision. We also stand with the families who continue to live with unimaginable grief such as ours, and those recovering from life-changing injuries.

Most collisions are not simply “accidents” - they are preventable. Choosing not to drink or take drugs before driving, putting your phone away, abiding the speed limit, wearing your seatbelt and driving with care are simple decisions that could save a life, whether it’s yours or someone else’s. Don’t be the reason, someone dies.

Charlotte should never have become one of those statistics, and neither should anyone else. If that man didn’t get behind the wheel under the influence of drugs, didn’t speed and drive selfishly, Charlotte would still be with us.

Please think before you get behind the wheel. Always drive safely and responsibly! Help make sure another family doesn’t have to experience the heartbreak that so many already have.

Charlotte, we love and miss you always. Never forgotten🤍
