It is approximately 140 km from Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, and approximately nine kilometres from Embu Town that also acts as the seat of Eastern provincial administration. Embu- Mbeere Hospice is a charitable Organization, registered with all relevant government authorities. It is a non- profit, non political and not affiliated to any religion and run by Board of trustees. The Hospice co
vers the Larger Embu, Larger Mbeere, Meru South and Kirinyaga Districts and their environs. The target catchment population is approximately over one (1) million people in the region, in whom some families are living with life limiting illnesses like cancer and HIV/AIDS and benefit directly or indirectly from the project. The Hospice broad objective is to establish a fully functional palliative care centre for patients with life limiting illnesses that will continuously provide a favourable environment to access comprehensive care and support thus helping them gain quality of life. The Facility is owned and run by the communities with assistance from the necessary Government departments.
