Faith Marekia is a water engineering professional and business leader committed to expanding access to reliable water solutions through Horizon Drilling Company Limited, where she serves as Co-Director responsible for Operations and Business Development. With an MSc. in Urban Water Engineering and Management and a strong academic foundation in Water and Environmental Engineering, she brings both technical excellence and strategic leadership to a company that has served diverse clients for over eight years.

Through Horizon, Faith leads work that addresses critical water access needs by providing hydrogeological studies, borehole drilling, solar-powered pump solutions, borehole maintenance and rehabilitation, water supply, water storage fabrication, and irrigation solutions. The company’s work supports NGOs, government, institutions, farmers, and individuals, reflecting the practical value of engineering in strengthening communities, livelihoods, and development outcomes.

Beyond her technical and business leadership, Faith is passionate about advancing the representation and success of women in engineering. If you are a young person in Nandi, Uasin Gishu, West Pokot, Kakamega, or Elgeyo Marakwet with a skill you would like to turn into income, NikoBiz just launched in your county.

This week, training kicked off across all five counties. Youth, women, and persons with disabilities are learning how to build real businesses from what they already have. Whether it is farming, creative work, or digital skills, NikoBiz provides the training, the mentorship, and the tools to make it sustainable.

Through a structured program in partnership with the UK Kenya Tech Hub, we have already walked this journey with more than 800 Kenyans across the country.

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing what is happening on the ground in each county. The people. The skills. The beginnings.

Because that is where the real story of Kenya's economy is being written.

Biashara Pawa heads to Kisumu for a powerful final celebration — the Biashara Pawa Awards Event.

This special convening brings together ecosystem partners, entrepreneurs, role models, and sector leaders to celebrate the voices, journeys, and impact that have shaped the Biashara Pawa movement. As we close this phase, we honour the entrepreneurs and partners who continue to demonstrate courage, innovation, and leadership across underrepresented sectors.

The event is part of the IYBA-SEED Kenya initiative, implemented in Kenya by SNV, GIZ, and SlovakAid, in partnership with Expertise France and Enabel, and delivered through implementing partners Responsible Business Consulting, Kaizen Consultancy, Wisehub, Eldohub, and Nakuru Box, with funding support from the European Union, German Cooperation, République Française, and SlovakAid.

Together, we strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems, amplify role models, and create platforms where young entrepreneurs can find inspiration, visibility, networks, and practical insights for growth.
